WHO ARE THEY: ONE ON ONE WITH TYCOON ATIMA REVOLUTIONARY GUARDS COORDINATOR

0

HAVE you ever heard about Revolutionary guards Uganda? Who are they and what are they doing? Is it about who to take overy after President Museveni? Who are the funders and what is their mission?

News Editor Online has interacted with Arua businessman Jackson Lee Atima, the coordinator of Revolutionary Guards Uganda in West Nile.

NE: What is Revolutionary Guards Uganda about?

Atima: It is an organisation, which is intending to guard the achievements of the revolutionary in this country. Here we are talking about the progress and transformation ushered in by the NRA/M government in 1986, which has been the cornerstone of the development that people are today witnessing. We act as a delivery vehicle for social, political and economic transformation. Its foundation is built around a network of progressive NRM cadres who believe in the revolutionary ideology and are committed to defend, safeguard the core values and principles of: Democracy, Patriotism, Social Economic Transformation and Pan-Africanism.

NE: So you are the Coordinator?

Atima: Yes for West Nile

NE: Are you not duplicating the work of NRM secretariat?

Atima: No please. We are partners in social  economic transformation. In this, we get to understand the programs, projects and initiatives undertaken by government for the benefit of our communities and follow them through the various stages by informing the public and mobilizing them to guard them. This involves encouraging them to participate in the democratic process, social economic transformation programs like NAADs or Operation Wealth Creation amongst others.

Atima in NRM colours

NE: How is yours different from Revolutionary Guards of Iran?

Atima: We are different in all aspects because for us we do follow up as private citizens without government funding or policy influence, which is a sharp contrast to that of Iran. We are into charity, social dialogue and encouraging harmony, equity and unity amongst diversity of culture, belief, social class and the political divide.

NE: Are there really gains you are guarding?

Atima: Yes, very many. Like access to education for all, peace and security, infrastructure development like roads and on this, in West Nile we have a clear testimony on the new tarmac roads that was not there back in the days ( from Karuma all through Pakwach, Nebbi, Arua, Maracha, Koboko it was murram), power dams- Bujagali, Insimba, Karuma which is yet to be added on and certainly connect the West Nile to the national grid. Here we have Muni University fully funded by government. We are guarding gains about security within the region through encouraging peace coexistence with our neighbours in DRC, South Sudan and tap into the opportunities to better our society.

NE: How did you become the coordinator?

Atima: Ironically people from the districts of Arua, Maracha and Madi Okollo  met here in Arua with the officials from the headquarters of the Revolutionary Guards who unanimously elected me to be the coordinator for West Nile. This is huge responsibility for such an organisation and the projects being undertaken in the region.

NE: We hear another group within, fighting you. Is it about who you want to take over after President Museveni?

Atima: Not to go that way What we have discovered, there is too much dishonest amongst civil servants especially in the procurement and implementation process to inflate project costs, corruption tendencies, failure to pay service providers by government agencies thus resulting into numerous legal battles that weigh heavily on public funds. Talk about negative mindset about government programs by the public, low morals of public servants, frustration of local investors through tideous processes, poor accountability and showdy works.

NE: Any special role for the Revolutionary guards in the comming elections?

Atima: Just to remind Ugandans that this is an opportunity for us to cross examine our leaders, make new choices and renew mandates for those who have exhibited high levels of integrity, performance and progress for the social transformation of our country. But most importantly ensure we maintain peace and security, we shouldn’t take the prevailing peace for granted, but undertake to live in harmony. There is no election that is organized to divide the people of a country.

Differences in political affiliation shouldn’t mean hostilities, because at the end of the day we will remain Ugandans, bearing in mind that Uganda is bigger than all of us.

NE: Any mission project?

Atima: As our mission states that we are for ‘Improving people’s lives through strategic, systematic and sustainable interventions’ there are programs that  are being undertaken jointly with government agencies and private stakeholders to help our people like donations to institutions that are meant to benefit the communities

Gayaza Junior and other students bids farewell to Archbishop Ntagali

Dr. Ntagali preached against pride saying instead of people thanking God who has given them gifts, they are busy thanking and advertising themselves.

He stated that,  “Humanely speaking, people will always want to look at someone and compare, you know we were created different people, we are different and God has given us very different gifts.  So, your gift isn’t mine and we all have gifts to work towards the growth of the Church.”

“So there are some people God gave gifts and they have that pride. If you received the gift of speaking in tongues or healing or doing anything, you thank God. However, other people thank themselves rather than thanking the Giver of that gift.” Said Archbishop, adding, “They look at themselves! You have heard brothers and sisters advertising themselves that ‘Come and see the man of God’ as if others are not men and women of God. We are all men and women of God, Alleluia.”

“You know we all have gifts and when you look at the gifts more than God the Giver,  then you miss it. You can be proud, you can think your are the best, but one who is the best is Jesus Christ,  the source of all the gifts. Praise God.” Said Archbishop Ntagali.

Namirembe Diocesan Secretary Canon Kaweesa who represented Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira thanked Archbishop Ntagali for his great relationship with Namirembe Diocese.

“He has almost been a member of Namirembe Diocese, fellowshiping with us at St. Paul’s Namirembe Cathedral and we have been moving togather as a Diocese.” Said Can. Kaweesa.

He revealed that, although Ntagali has two offices, one of the Archbishop and also the Bishop of All Saints Nakasero Diocese, most of the time he has been at Namirembe.

“Dr. Ntagali has wisely led the two offices without any friction and with total respect to everyone. A very  humble and approachable leader.  Such a leader is rare. So as Namirembe Diocese, we thank him and we wish him a blessed retirement as he heads to Hoima. We very much know,  he will continue serving the Church.” Said Can. Kaweesa.

Mr. John Fred Kazibwe, the Headmaster Mengo Senior School thanked God for enabling Dr. Ntagali serve as the Archbishop Church of Uganda.

“We have seen him preaching the Gospel and thousands turn back to God. We have also seen him supporting schools, completing Church House project and also constructing a magnificent All Saints Church. He has done a lot especially preparing his successor without pulling ropes. We thank God for that.” Noted Mr. Kazibwe.

He said, “We today want to thank God as Mengo Senior School, we held a function today to bid farewell to our Archbishop Stanely Ntagali, a very good friend who has done wonders to us. Because we teach the young generation, we have learnt a lot from Archbishop Ntagali. That is why we have gathered here, to bid him farewell.”

IS RWANDA THE GROUP UNDER DOG?

In an exclusive interview with News Editor Online after the draws, coach McKinstry said, ‘’It’s almost as though fate conspire to say not just Uganda but myself to be  re-acquitted with Rwanda in every opportunity  and there is no team in Africa I know better than Rwanda whether it’s the world cup or Chan Team a lot of them where given debuts by me and staff for the 2yrs so we know them while.”

Adding, “We have all it take to get maximum points in that game.’’  McKinstry however said, “There is no doubt we will miss the players like Allan Okello and Joel Madondo who have joined Morocco and Algeria respectively. We will give opportunity to other boys.”

He revealed that Uganda has got a lot of talents and are ready to step up and play.

The Cranes CHAN team kick starts their preparations on March 2nd 2020 and hope to call about 32 players to the camp. Assessment of players depend on the remaining games of the league before they are called up and towards the FIFA gazetted day the team will be trimmed to final 23 who will make it to finals in Cameroon.

Cranes will face off with neighbours Rwanda on a date yet to be set at Stade de la Reunification Stadium in Douala capital, then play Togo in the second game and finish up with the defending champions Morocco.

Ethiopia were formerly awarded as host, but the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) admitted it was not ready to host this competition. When Cameroon took it over, tournament date was moved from January and February to April.

Desabre joined this club last month from Egyptian club Pyramid where he had spent less than 5 month.

COACH Mike Mutebi will today evenning command Kasasiro boys in a well calculated attack intended to put a speed governor to Billionaire Lawrence Mulindwa’s Vipers Sports Club.

The Venoms of Entebbe road are 5 points clear, ahead of KCCA FC.

The City lads want to close the gap to two points to make their hopes of retaining the trophy, alive.

But if they sleep off and Vipers bag three points this evenning, soccer analysts say, their hopes will be gone.

So in today’s clash, Mutebi has ordered his boys to get the three points, not any other result.

This match comes just days after Mike Mutebi declared that it is still possible for his side to do a double this year despite being 5points behind Vipers.

During a pre-match press preconference held at star times Stadium Lugogo yesterday, the unpredictable tactician refuted claims that today’s clash with viper’s will be a title decider

‘’NO‘’, Mike replied, when asked if the game against the Venoms was a tittle decider.

“It’s just a normal game like any other. Yes they are our tittle competitors but there are still more games which will shape the league.‘’ Answered Mike Mutebi.

Mike revealed that todays game brings together two sides with the best players in the league and fans always expect to watch entertaining football when two sides meet.

KCCA FC hopes to make it a double over Kajoba boys after winning the reverse fixture 1-0 courtesy of Muzamir Mutyaba who returns just in time for the clash.

Mutebi said,  ‘’We have the responsibility, ability and enough in our armory to pick a good result to further our ambition of retaining the league.’’

He said, he isnt scared about the Kitende based club.

‘’I don’t know what is their style of play, they haven’t been an attacking team even before Kajoba took over. I am not worried about them, I must perfect our ways of play and it’s them to worry about us.’’

In the other league games today, Sam Simbwa’s URA FC is paying a tricky visit to Busoga United, Deo Sserwadda will have to prove to his bosses that he is the right man for the job as Wakiso Giants host stubborn Maroons FC wheres Bright Stars will have to shine even brighter a way to Police FC

GO & WIN: 8 KAMPALA MPS, 5 DIVISION MAYORS WHO ENDORSED KAWALYA FOR KCCA SPEAKER NAMED

0

BY MEDDIE KITYO

YOUTHFUL Abubaker Kawalya, Lord councilor representing Lubaga North at City Hall must be the happiest councilor aspiring for KCCA Speakership after getting endorsement by 8 members of Parliament out of 9 MPs representing Kampala in Parliament.

Also, all the five division mayors making up Kampala led by powerful FDC Buganda Vice President Owek. Joyce Juliet Nabbosa Ssebuggwawo have openly come out to rally behind Kawalya saying he is the best candidate for the job.
Election of KCCA speaker is expected before the end of this February.

Kawalya’s poster during 2016 elections he massively won

“We are not happy about what’s going on at our party Headquaters. We will not support any attempt by a section of party leaders to use shortcuts. We are closely following all games being played against our son Haji Abubaker Kawalya but he has our blessings. I will in fact talk to Dr. Besigye about day dreamers who think can impose Doreen Nyanjura on councilors. What does she know about FDC?” Asked Lubaga Division mayor, Owek. Ssebuggwawo.

This comes at a time when Party officials have declared Nyanjura as the official party flag bearer, something Ssebuggwawo has denied.

“Who made her a flag bearer? Which qualifications does she have better than Kawalya? We will not allow such dramatic scenes. Kawalya is FDC 311, we will support him and do everything to make sure he is the KCCA Speaker.” Vowed Buganda Kingdom former minister.

Kawalya camp advised him to shun ‘fake’ FDC nominations fearing to step on their political landmines.

According to his campaign manager, “Winning is on our way. FDC Caucus elected Kawalya and everything was sealed. We are only waiting for the election day to disapprove those cliques fighting Kawalya.”

https://newseditor.co.ug/2020/02/13/were-4-kawalya-fdc-kcca-councilors-again-reject-ingrid-lukwago-fake-deal-on-speaker-job/

Other mayors who have boosted Kawalya camp includes; Charles Musoke Sserunjogi (Kampala Central), Ronald Balimwezo ( Nakawa), Haji Ali Kasirye Nganda Mulyannyama (Makindye) and Emanuel Sserunjoji Oweddembe (Kawempe).

We are reliably informed, mayors of Particular divisions are secretly meeting their LC V councilors to vote for Haji Kawalya. We are even aware of late night meetings to see Kawalya win with flying colours.

“On this, we are showing solidarity. As Kampala division mayors, we are behind Abubaker Kawalya. He will serve a better Speaker.  He is pro people,  a young man who listens and very dependable.” Said Kampala Central mayor, Charles Sserunjogi Musoke.

8 MPS BOOST KAWALYA CAMP
They are led by COSASE Chairman and Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa Mugaatigwabbata, COSASE Vice Chairman also Makindye East MP Ibrahim Kasozi, Lubaga South MP Paulo Kato Lubwama and Kawempe North MP Latif Sebaggala Ssengendo.

Others are; Muhammad Nsereko ( Kampala Central), Nabilah Naggayi Sempala (Kampala Woman MP) and Hon. Allan Ssewanyana  (Makindye West).

Hon. Kabaziguruka (right), Kawalya (left) rescuing their comrade Yusuf who was brutally arrested by gun men

To our shock, Hon. Micheal Kabaziguruka (Nakawa) who is a brother to Nyanjura’s husband, is also team Kawalya.

In fact when FDC party president was announcing Nyanjura’s nomination today at the Party Headquaters, no Kampala MP showed up.

It’s only Hon. Moses Kasibante (Lubaga North) who is behind Lukwago’s Doreen Nyanjura and his issues are personal.

WHY KASIBANTE HATES KAWALYA
Kawalya has been in the news targeting Hon. Moses Kasibante Lubaga North seat in 2021and has full support both in FDC  and People Power.

Kawalya in a red beret, hosting Owek. Dan Muliika former Buganda Premier, in his constituency

During a meeting at Bobi Wine’s Magere home, Kyaddondo East legislator openly told Lubaga North People power youth who had visited him that in 2021 he will support Kawalya for MP seat calling him, “A very hardworking FDC young man who shares People power ideologies. “
Kyagulanyi said People Power has no problem with the leaders like Kawalya
who embrace People Power activities.

“Kawalya is on ground mobilising our people. He is in FDC but not fighting our genuine cause. He is our brother, we can’t fight him. We have many colleagues in FDC, NRM and other parties who believe in  the People power struggle,  we will always stand with them.” Kyagulanyi told Lubaga North youth who were led by Hakim Kizza Saula.

It is not known whether this is why Kawalya is fought by Katonga’s Peoples Government not to take over KCCA Speaker slot.

However those knowing Kawalya said, this councilor who chairs Engineering and Road Works committee is determined to contest with any one be it fronted by Lord mayor or NRM.

Kawalya told the News Editor Online that, “I have no problem with any member presenting him or herself. That is democracy. Let them come, councilors will decide. I have all the qualifications for this job and am in touch with councilors who have asked me to contest. Yes I will and winning is for us.”

Serving his first term as councilor, Kawalya is a Ghetto boy who grew up in the slums of Kawaala, Kasubi and Nakulabye. He is talked about as the richest young councilor in Lukwago’s council, approachable and very generous.

Before being voted KCCA councilor,  he served in KCCA making him known by the technical wing.

Kawalya commands genuine support from fellow councilors and other stakeholders, with higher chances of winning the Speaker job.

Archbishop elect – Dr. Kazimba

KAZIMBA IS A HUMBLE SERVANT – NTAGALI
Speaking in the press conference shortly after Kazimba was declared Archbishop – elect, the outgoing Archbishop Dr. Stanely Ntagali referred to his successor as a very down to earth servant who deserved this win.
“Martin Luther King Jr once said ‘I have a dream that one day, Black and White Ameriacans will walk shoulder by shoulder on the streets of Washington and New York’. And recently we had the grand son of Africa being the President of USA. Mine is not a dream, it is a testimony.” Ntagali said, adding, “Two days before I was elected Archbishop of Church of Uganda, a dear brother came to me and said, ‘Brother you are being speculated by the press. I feel that we need to sit down and pray together.’ I said, it is a good idea. This was my brother Bishop Steven Kazimba. “
“He never knew that God was preparing him to be the 9th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda. My brother I congratulate you and thank God for your humility and I want to thank the provincial Chancellor who led the election exercise. We thank God for this humble and great man of God to whom am going to handle over the province as the 9th Archbishop.” Said Dr. Ntagali.
He also asked Nation to pray for his wife Beatrice and for Kazimba and wife Margret as they prepare to take over the mantal.

On this day, Ntagali will also handover Provincial documents with reports about all Dioceses, Bishops, Reverands and other Church leaders. They will have details about Church of Uganda land, schools, hospitals and other properties.
