NRM ruling Party leaders in Buganda have convened a meeting in Masaka over the weekend and endorsed Capt. George Mike Mukula for Vice Chairman NRM in charge of Eastern Uganda.
They say, Capt. Mukula is an asset in the Party who has recruited thousands for NRM in the region, he should be left to carry on the mantle
Speaking to this News Website shortly after the meeting, one of the leaders who asked for anonymity told us how Buganda leaders agreed to call on those who had interest in the same position to let it go.
He said, “It is not all about contesting but having a leader who perfectly steers the party in the region. We have worked with Capt. Mukula, he is a mover. We dont see why our dangerous striker in Eastern is substituted.”
Leaders resolved to talk to their colleagues in Eastern to make sure, Mukula goes through unopposed so that he concentrates on other party assignments.
Capt. Mukula is now stationed at plot 10 Kyadondo at the Party Headquaters where he was given a desk to receive new defectors.
He on Friday attended a press conference at NRM Headquaters addressed by Rt.Hon. Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba to launch NRM Roadmap for party primaries.

‘IGNORE THOSE BLACKMAILING YOU AS A STATE SPY’, BOBI WINE TELLS AIDE OSCAR MBAZIIRA

0

VERY CLOSE: Bobi Wine and Oscar Mbaziira

NEWS EDITOR

UGANDA opposition People Power Movement supreme leader Hon. Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine is concerned about those spreading lies against his international mobilizer Oscar Mbaziira that he was planted by security agencies to spy on him.
Bobi Wine had a meeting with Mbaziira who is a 2011 Lubaga Mayoral contestant and asked him to ignore those spreading rumours against him.
Bobi told him, “My brother Oscar, there is nothing like bad news. Never be moved because someone has written lies about you. You are a powerful and resourceful man. Always ignore and we strive on to further the struggle.”

Oscar Mbaziira

Kyagulanyi said he even has nothing to be spied about and any one sent to him as a spy, will be put to use to our advantage.
This comes after a fake facebook account was created to spread a post against Oscar Mbaziira who lives in United Kingdom that he is a State operative assigned to spy on the People Power camp.
A shared post by one Elizabeth Odoa which carries a photo of Mbaziira reads, “He is Oscar Mbaziira a government spy attached to Internal Security Organization (ISO), External Security Organization (ESO) and Chieftanancy of Military Intelligence (CMI). He has been spying and giving intelligence organs information about names of our people who were later killed. Now he has been deployed to spy and kill ‘President’ Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi.”
The post calls for more vigilance and to monitor him very closely.
“Do not allow him to come any closer to People Power. We either win by a ballot or bullet.” Reads the post.

Shared post

However Bobi asked Mbaziira to disregard this saying such tricks have been used to disorganise People Power but in vain.
In his response Mbaziira who served at then KCC alongside Haji Abdul Nsereko and Wasswa Ziritwawula as councilors said those behind this blackmail are motivated by the desire to pull him down. Mbaziira swears that no one can manage him.
He said, “There is a clique of people in UK led by one Ssebuliba who are cooking up  those chemicals against me. They blindly think by Character assassinating me i will give up on the struggle. He asks the public to disregard them since they are Day dreamers. I am self employed no one can buy my conscience. I will never have bad intentions against Bobi.”

INVESTMENT CONSULTANT: Mbaziira

On his facebook page Oscar Mbaziira wrote, “Over the past few days i have been asked countless times to comment on the false allegations levied against me which have been doing rounds on social media by some people with a clear attempt to damage my personal reputation.” He continued to say that, “It’s jealous and envy pushing them to satisfy their personal vendetta. I categorically deny the allegations being made since I have never participated or worked with any Government agency. I challenge them to support their allegations with evidence or confront me other than using fake Facebook accounts.”
Mbaziira an investment consultant told us that he is deeply disappointed and will be exposing those behind these allegations if they don’t come out to apologise to him. He said, ” No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”

EXPERT: HERE IS HOPE FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS DURING COVID-19 TIMES

0

BY MARIAM BAGYENYI

GONE are the days when one lived in fear and walked on eggshells because of child birth.

First time mothers were always on tension whenever a thought of how they were going to deliver that baby they had carried in the womb for 9months or so, crossed their mind. Things were even harder during the time private and pubic transport was banned due to Covid-19 Lockdown.

However with the coming of the Guardian, all this is a thing of the past. Many mother’s will bear me witness that this service is Godsend.

Take the example of Mummy Haula who put through her call for help  at the most unexpected time. Meeting this mother physically was hard but we talked and arranged everything through the phone.

She was pregnant for 8 months, staying with her sister. Her husband had been caught up-country by the sudden lockdown where communication was very hard. She got worried about the times ahead as she waited for her baby to pop.

She hadn’t bought her  maternity and newborn stuff and all this was horrible since  lockdown came by a surprise to everyone.

When we talked, i asked her to keep calm and relax. I encouraged her to maintain her diet, have enough rest and regularly take her follic follic. Luckily she had scans and the EED (expected date of delivery) was known. This made everything easy.

We at Guardian, called the hospital where she did her antenatal counseling, booked and paid for everything. We packed her a beginner’s set of baby stuff, maternity, necessities and she was good to go.

In the meantime we prepared her phycologically for motherhood. We went through lessons like loving her body and soul and how to talk to a new born. This helped her to feel loved, cared for and brave that she will pull through that moment.

We guided her on mother care, how to breast feed, bathing the baby, colic pain care, the maternity feeding, resting, handling stress (because this happens to 85% of 1st time mothers), hygiene and everything a mother needs in the first 2 months. She was good to go.

Her water broke and we found our way to her home.
She laid in the delivery ward as we prayed and waited for doctor to check on her progress. Luckily she had only about 4 hours left to deliver her baby. We gave her a massage and emotional support which helped her  believe in herself.

As the labor pain increased the doctor asked her pushed as held my hand tightly and boom, we heard a shrill cry of an awesome  babygirl which filled every one in the room with so much joy. Video calls were made and photos taken. The Baby was checked and  dressed for the mother to feed.

The moment of Truth came, when ban on public transport was lifted, her husband rushed home only to find good news.
He asked his wife how she made it only to be told about the Guardian.

A very grateful husband showed up at our office to thank us and clear all the expenses encountered.
She only needed a Guardian and that’s what we do for our birth partners.

Noting that modernity has come with its challenges in this digital era, Naigaga argued that lately underage girls are found of luring boys into sexual intercourse but the law only criminalizes the boy child thereby letting the girl off the hook yet sometimes girls are culpable too.
“We condemn all criminal cases involving underage children however, the children’s act is very unfair mostly to the boys.It only criminalizes them yet the girls are equally culpable and it’s high time we demanded for the amendment of that act to ensure that even girls are charged as well alongside the boys”, she said.
Relatedly, Jolly Bagoole, LC1 boss for Irongo village noted that while it’s important to protect the children, something needs to be done to ensure that the provision of their rights in their act does not empower them to ‘misbehave’.

SUMAYIYAH MUWONGE: JOURNALIST WHO WANTS NABILAH’S MP JOB TASKS KCCA TO ACCOUNT FOR UGX 12B WASTE MANAGEMENT FUNDS

A LEADER WHO LISTENS: Sumayiyah Muwonge at Kawempe market yesterday

NEWS EDITOR

CELEBRATED Journalist Sumayiyah Muwonge who has already shown interest in contesting for Kampala Woman Member of Parliament in 2021 wants Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to explain why it has failed to manage waste in the Capital city yet it got a budget of UGX 12B.
Meeting vendors in Kawempe ‘Ku ttaano’ market yesterday, Sumayiyah Muwonge the ‘Ddembe lyo’ show host every Saturday at 7:00pm also Agookya News Anchor on Top tv now handling Private Teachers’ issues was dismayed on learning that market vendors have to hire a truck from KCCA for Ceesspool emptying.
Vendors told her, “We have on many occasions approached KCCA to send us a Ceesspool emptier but they are very slow and it sometimes take ages.”
An angry Sumayiyah Muwonge was so incensed about leaders who  have failed put KCCA to task leaving taxpayers to suffer.
She said, “Now we have come to vie for leadership positions. Give us an opportunity to go to Parliament and air out your views and monitor these city managers who collect your taxes. Kampala people deserve to be given services because they pay huge taxes.”
“But before I even enter Parliament, I want KCCA to account for over UGX 12B they were given for waste management in Kampala. Where are Cesspool emptiers? We want them tell us or else we take another step.” Said Ms. Sumayiyah Muwonge.

WHY I HAVE COME: Sumayiyah Muwonge speaks out

Speaking to a KCCA official attached to the Directorate of Public Health and Environment, it’s true they don’t have enough Cesspool emptiers and waste management trucks because Government did not give them money as it was budgeted.
“We asked for UGX 45B to buy 45 garbage trucks and UGX 5B for managing waste in Kampala but our request was not considered. We only got UGX 3B not 12 B as our sister Sumayiyah Muwonge alleges.” Says KCCA official.
He told the News Editor Media that KCCA licenced Uganda Emptiers Association who are in charge of Cesspool emptying services because the City governing body has no money to buy Ceesspool emptiers.
He said, “We only have about 4 toilet emptiers. And we operate in all KCCA primary schools,  public institutions like Churches and Mosques, hospitals and in most parts, sewers are no longer working. For private schools, markets and homes, we always advise our people to seak for emptying services from the Uganda Emptiers Association.”
We are told, KCCA put a toll free number to help out those who want Cesspool emptying services.
“We can’t serve all Kampala people in time. Our hands are tied. Kindly, Kawempe market vendors should bear with us.” Said KCCA.
Sumayiyah Muwonge has however refused to buy KCCA excuses saying the City managers should carry their cross if not, let them resign.
In Kawempe yesterday,  Sumayiyah Muwonge visited different areas donating books and other reading materials to students who were locked in their homes due to Coronavirus outbreak.
Primary and secondary students who benefitted from Sumayiyah Muwonge donations saluted her saying other politicians stop at feeding them with empty promises.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE: Sumayiyah Muwonge donating reading materials to school children who are in lockdown

Sumayiyah is expected to visit all the five Kampala divisions donating Stay home reading materials.
In the race, she is expected to tussle it out with MUK Don Dr. Stella Nyanzi, Shamim Malende, Shifrah Lukwago, Fatuma Nambi, among others.
Being a reknown journalist and a youth, analysts say Sumayiyah is likely to pull huge crowds.

LANDANDMARK ISLAMIC EVENTS IN UGANDA @OLD KAMPALA HILL: THE CRADLE OF MUSLIM UNITY IN UGANDA PART 1

0

Installation of Bunyoro District Kadhi. The function was presided over by His Excellency Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, Muft of Uganda.

BY HAJI NSEREKO MUTUMBA

HAVE you ever wondered why the headquarters of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) – an umbrella organization for all Muslims in Uganda, is located at Old Kampala Hill?
Do you know the significance of Old Kampala Hill to Muslims and Islam in Uganda?

WRITER: Haji Nsereko Mutumba

WHAT IDI AMIN SAID:

Gadaffi National Mosque Old Kampala

All the answers are in the following remarks made by President Idi Amin Dada during the inauguration of UMSC, at the Uganda International Conference Centre on Thursday, 1st June, 1972;
On the matter of disputes within the Islamic movement in Uganda, and attempts that have been made to try and settle those disputes, my attention has recently been drawn to some historically interesting piece of information which I would like to share with you.

In the year 1924, during the rule of Governor Archer, the late Sir Daudi Chwa, as the reigning Kabaka of Buganda, convened a meeting of leading Muslims in an attempt to settle a dispute that had brought about divisions among Moslems, arising from the holding of Juma and Zukuli prayers. He did not succeed in settling the disputes.

In the year 1927, the protectorate Government tried its hand in the matter settling that dispute. The Government invited Haji Ibrahim, a Kadhi from Zanzibar who held a meeting with Muslim leaders. That meeting was held in exactly the same place where the late Sir Daudi Chwa had met Moslems on the same subject, Haji Ibrahim’s ruling was not accepted; and the dispute persisted.

It was not until the year 1944 that a decisive ruling was received from Mecca. The late Sheik Muhamad  Lubowa, representing one side of the dispute, and the late Sheik Abdalla Sekimwanyi and Sheik Ahmad Nsambu, who is here with us both of whom represented the other side to the disputes, who had gone on a pilgrimage to Mecca, were the bearers of the Mecca ruling.

They jointly announced that ruling, which was that, it was not necessary to hold Zukuli prayers as well on the Juma day (Friday).  The joint announcement was made amidst a very large gathering of supporters of both factions to the dispute only a few yards from the actual place where Moslems had been met by the late Sir Daudi Chwa, and Haji Ibrahim of Zanzibar.

To commemorate that happy occasion, Asian Muslims in Kampala built an arch, which is still standing today, near that place. That place was the top of Old Kampala Hill, only a few yards from the spot where Captain Lugard first hoisted the British flag. Old Kampala Hill, therefore, is doubly significant in the history of Uganda.

Not only is it the place where a foreign flag was flown on Uganda soil, but it is also the place where attempts were first made to settle disputes within the oldest of all recognized religions in this country.”
The above statement by the late President Amin is testimony that the misunderstandings among Muslims in Uganda are not a recent development. They started way back in the 1920s during the colonial rule.
The uniqueness of the first misunderstandings is that they were purely theological. There was a Juma and Zukuli sect that believed that it was incumbent on Muslims to separately observe the Zuhur (lunch time) prayer and the Juma prayer on Fridays.

This was contested by the ‘Juma only’ sect whose interpretation was that; the Zuhur prayer is not incumbent on a Muslim who has observed the Juma prayer on Friday.
The second wave of misunderstandings that hit Muslims in Uganda, were largely inspired by political and material interests.
As usual, Old Kampala Hill was central to all attempts (both successful and unsuccessful) to address these misunderstandings, and as I write this, we are enjoying some good fruits of Muslim unity, thanks to the current UMSC administration’s ‘motto’ of Muslim unity and development.
It is therefore evident that the decision by President Idi Amin Dada to allocate Old Kampala Hill to UMSC was neither accidental, nor political. He based his decision on the Hill’s historical role in uniting Muslims of Uganda.
