A FEW weeks ago, fallen Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah sent a three short word message to his confidant Eng. Joseph Ssewava who is President Museveni’s blue eyed boy and asked him to, “PRAY FOR ME!”
By then, Oulanyah had been flown to Seattle, USA for specialised medication. The two, Oulanyah and Ssewava have been so close to the extent that, late last year, Ssewava organised a mega function at his palatial home in Seguku on Entebbe road, to congratulate Rt. Hon. Oulanyah upon his victory as Speaker Parliament of Uganda.
This mega function was attended by Members of Parliament, top NRM bosses, businessmen, religious leaders and NRM youth leaders.
We shall come back to this function from where Speaker Oulanyah talked about his death!

OULANYAH IN SEATTLE HOSPITAL
After sending Ssewava a message to pray for him, Oulanyah never again answered calls or replied Ssewava’s messages.
We are reliably informed, when he sent him a message to inquire about his condition,he didn’t get a reply.
“I reached an extent of sending a message requesting him atleast to record for me a video while on his sick-bed. He didnt reply. Since then, we never talked again. On Sunday morning, I was deeply saddened to read an announcement from the Head of State that Speaker Oulanyah had passed away.” Eng. Joseph Ssewava, the National communications Assistant in the office of the National Chairman NRM, revealed to this news website.

@ OULANYAH’S LAST SUPPER
To Eng. Joseph Ssewava, that day he organised a function at his Seguku home to congratulate Rt. Hon. Oulanyah for winning the Speaker seat, was his last supper.
“I believe, that was the last party Speaker Oulanyah attended, dined and cracked jokes with Members of Parliament, religious leaders and NRM leaders. We shared, enjoyed and danced together. I have not seen Oulanyah attending such a function.”
After a Mass which was presided over by The Most Rev. Fr. Kasibante, Rt Hon. Oulanyah talked about how Sewava is a true friend who even stood with him during the heated election of the Speaker of the 11th parliament.
“Even when I die, I will still remember Ssewava.” Said Oulanyah, leaving fellow Mps asking themselves why their colleague was talking about his death yet they had just elected him Speaker.
At this function, Oulanyah was so excited to see Adam Luzinda Buyinza, former Amama Mabazi’s boy commonly remembered as the the leader of the NRM Poor Youth.
Oulanyah said, “I see my comrade Buyinza, very vibrant in all aspects, am not shocked that he is selling the products he is selling.” which attracted laughter. Adam Buyinza deals in herbal products.
In his address, Rt. Hon. Oulanyah read in the book of 1st Corinthians 13:13 which talks about Faith, Hope and love for one another.
Present were; Hon. John Bosco Lubyayi Sseeguya (NRM chairman Mpigi district, Hon. Kiwanda, Hon. Ssebamala, Hon. Barbra Nekesa, Kellen Kayonga, Hon. Lillian Abber,  Desire Muhooza, Habibu Sseruwagi, youth who included; Frank Aliganyira, Adam Luzindana Buyinza,  Ben Ssebuguzi, Robert Rwakandare, Isaacs Semanyi,  Nava Mastulla and others.
Oulanyah left Ssewava’s home a happy man.

‘WHEN I DIE, ORGANISE A MASS AND PRAY FOR MY BODY’ – OULANYAH
As if he knew that he was passing away soon, when Ssewava visited at his Muyenga home, Speaker Oulanyah shockingly told his guest that, “When i die, there should be a requiem Mass organised by Catholics to pray for me.”
Ssewava told us, at first he took it casually but when his friend passed away on Sunday, he remembered how he badly wanted a Mass to be organised when he dies.
“He has been a believer who doesn’t discriminate religions. Yes he has been an Anglican but from his mouth, he asked me to make sure I organise a Mass for catholics to pray for his body.” Said Ssewava whom we found at Rubaga Cathedral where he had gone to find a way of organising a requiem Mass for fallen Speaker.

‘OULANYAH WAS A PEACEMAKER, LOVED PRESIDENT MUSEVENI’ – RECALLS NRM’S SSEWAVA
While eulogising Oulanyah, Eng. Ssewava said the fallen Speaker was a peacemaker and loved president Museveni.
“His heart was fast forgiving. You wrong him in the morning, before day ends, he is already putting on a smile for you. He had no time for enmity. He has been man of peace. What an irreplaceable leader!” Says Ssewava.
He revealed to us how the late Speaker mobilised for rolling NRM in Northern Uganda, defeating enemies of peace and stability.

“I must say, Oulanyah was pivotal in NRM’s 2021 General election victory. He rallied Northern Uganda behind our star President Museveni, a leader he loved so much. Thank you Northern Uganda for giving us Jacob. The country lost its gallant son. Our tears will never dry.” Said Ssewava who broke into tears while telling us memorable moments about Speaker Oulanyah.

In our next story, we will analyse political techniques Oulanyah used to comb Northern Uganda for NRM.

“WE DID EVERYTHING TO BRING BACK SPEAKER OULANYAH ALIVE BUT ALL IN VAIN”, SAYS CRESTFALLEN D/SPEAKER ANITA AMONG AS SHE RETURNS HOME EMPTY HANDED

HE IS NO MORE: Speaker Oulanyah with his deputy Anita Among. He died today morning!

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

IT’S a black Sunday in Uganda! Less than a year at the 6th floor of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament of Uganda Jacob Oulanyah is no more! It’s hard to believe!
Today afternoon, on her return from Seattle, America from where her boss breathed his last, Deputy Speaker Annet Anita Among has written about how they did everything humanly to save the life of Speaker Oulanyah but all was in vain! She has mentioned twenty things she will never forget about the fallen Speaker of Parliament.
Bellow is Deputy Speaker Anita Among’s full statement as she announces Oulanyah’s death;
My Fellow Ugandans, our dear brother, friend and Leader the Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah has left us! He passed on this morning in Seattle, WA, the USA where he was receiving treatment.
As a person and the Parliament family, we loved and cherished Jacob dearly, he stood tall as a gentle giant, a principled man, a man of his word and an accomplished lawyer and legislator.  His loud laughters, cheeky winks and sense of humour lit up our hearts even in the difficult times.
During his tenure as both Speaker and Deputy Speaker, he taught us tolerance, honesty, adherence to the rules and all that it takes to be a good speaker. Jacob appreciated the value of team work, and held us as the Parliament family together.
We looked foward to many years of working together in the service of our Country and the people of Uganda.
My brother Jacob was a strict time keeper and a God fearing man ,that is why the 11th Parliament has premised its activities on the guidance of the almighty.
We did everything humanly possible to ensure our brother gets back to his feet, we prayed too that he would come back to us alive! But that wasn’t to be. God had other plans for my brother our brother! We loved him, but the Lord almighty loved him more!
My sincere sympathies to the family of my brother Jacob, His Excellency the President, the Members and Staff of Parliament, the people of Omoro County and the Country at large upon this tragic loss.
Parliament will never be the same without you, i will dearly miss you , the light moments, the unique moments we jointly chaired  the proceedings of the House – setting precedents that had never been and all that you were to me and the Parliament of Uganda.
May the heavens receive you in Glory my dear twin brother and leader. May you Rest in Eternity .

‘WE ARE AHEAD OF THE WORLD IN GENDER EQUALITY’, SAYS UGANDAN MINISTER BETTY AMONGI @ NEWYORK CONFERENCE

0

Gender Minister, Hon. Amongi Betty (third left) with the delegation from Oman after the meeting in New York

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

THE Government of Uganda has made tremendous progress in advancing gender equality and women empowerment as a key driver of inclusive economic growth and social development.
While presenting a paper at a dialogue held on the sidelines of the ongoing 66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York on Thursday, the Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Hon. Amongi Betty Ongom observed that a host of progressive laws, policies, programmes and interventions had been instituted to support the drive.
“As a country, Uganda has entrenched a clear belief system which recognizes that societies where women and girls are treated as inferior to men and boys are a recipe to establishing and perpetuating a vicious cycle of limited education, poor employment opportunities, ill health, forced marriages and all too frequent violence and exploitation.” Amongi said.
She added that more attention had been directed to eliminating cultural and religious practices that subjugate women and perpetuate multiple forms of discrimination, oppression and violence.
She called for studies on how to liberate women who remain custodians of protecting and reinforcing such practices.

The Minister however decried the slow progress at global level noting that of the 72 million children of primary-school age still excluded from school systems, two-thirds are girls while women hold only 18 percent of the world’s parliamentary seats and throughout the world, too many women live in fear of violence.
“In too many countries, policies, legal frameworks and social justice systems are just not adequate. Of all the Sustainable Development Goals, the one where we have achieved least success is on maternal health,” she noted adding, “Each year, between 10 to 15 million women suffer long-term disability due to complications during pregnancy or childbirth. Every year, more than a million children are left motherless”.
The Minister said the Gender Ministry in Uganda is prioritizing economic empowerment for women because research has shown that women face greater hurdles than men in almost all spheres of economic activity including; access to finance, assets, technology, good-quality jobs and peer-to-peer networks.
She pledged to develop a comprehensive approach to reducing gender inequality, repealing laws that discriminate against women and girls, increase protection against violence, close the gap in girl’s education and digital technology, guarantee full access to sexual and reproductive health services and rights, and end the gender pay gap.
“We are making sure that women have equal representation in peace processes, and strengthen our work on the links between violence against women and international peace and security,” She added.
Amongi was optimistic that women’s equal leadership and participation is fundamental and with the quotas that have been in implementation, there is a growing shift in balance of power and that dividends are starting to show towards gender parity in Government, Parliament, Corporate Boards and Institutions across the world.
“We are now moving to a very exciting time in history where the world now expects diversity, equity and inclusion. The world notices its absence and celebrates its presence.” She observed.
Meanwhile, the Minister has held bilateral meetings with Ministers and executive officials from South Africa, UN AIDS, Oman and Norway on a cross section of issues.
The discussions revolved around the need to increase peer-to-peer learning programmes between Uganda and South Africa.
The South African Minister for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Hon. Maite Nkoana-Mashabane also pledged more cooperation on Gender and Equity budgeting as key empowerment strategies for women and girls.
The Norwegian State Secretary for International Development, Bjorg Sandkjaer pledged more financial support to Uganda in areas of sexual and reproductive health for pregnant girls, the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation and the gender equality programming.
Oman pledged to work closely with Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development to ensure that Ugandan girls working as housemaids are safe and their rights are protected while the UNAIDS Africa Director, Anne Githuku-Shongwe pledged collaboration with Uganda on scaling up the campaign for reduction of HIV infections arising from the COVID-19 impact, especially among young girls.

KATIKKIRO MAYIGA FINALLY SPEAKS OUT ON HOW HAMIS KIGGUNDU FAKED TITLES ON KABAKA’S KIGO LAND; POLICE BOSSES, UMEME & NEMA TO BE QUIZZED

PREMIER MAYIGA: Rallies Kabaka’s subjects against those grabbing Kingdom land

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

KAMPALA’s renown businessman Hamis Kiggundu is in fresh trouble over the fake freehold land titles he fraudently got on Kabaka’s Kigo mailo land, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, the Kingdom Prime minister has spoken out on the next step after UNRA withdrew a permission they had given to Ham to create road on Kabaka’s land.
Buganda Kingdom has instructed two feared legal firms; M/s Sebalu & Lule Co. Advocates and Kiwanuka & Karugire Co. Advocates to pursue the legal matters concerning cancellation of Hamis Kiggundu’s Kiham Enterprises (U) Limited illegal land titles and also proceed with the civil and criminal matters against Ham, that may be incidental to these acts.
In a three pager statement released yesterday, Buganda Kingdom’s Premier revealed how Hamis Kiggundu, Edward Nakibinge of Kiham Enterprises Limited and their agents invaded, trespassed and grabbed Kingdom land at Kigo, in Wakiso district.
Owek. Mayiga said, the invaders obtained approval from NEMA  (dated December 18, 2020) intended to construct housing apartments and eco-tourism projects.
“The practices by Kiham Enterprises to create freehold titles on top of Mailo titles as well as titles scratching into the reserves of Lake Victoria is a disguised land grabbing technique that is not only barbaric and an environmental concern but also a blatant illegality that has been a continuous subject of Government concern and campaign for title cancellation.” Reads Katikkiro’s press statement.

KATIKKIRO’S FULL STATEMENT:
On March 11, 2022, Mr. Hamis Kiggundu and Mr. Nakibinge of Kiham Enterprises Limited and their agents invaded, tresspassed and started to dump hundreds of truckfuls of soil into a drainage channel that naturally drains water from the Munyonyo Spur road, between the Serena Kigo Golf Course and Mirembe Villas.
This activity continued through the day and night amidst a huge presence and protection by Uganda Police Force, facilitated by an ex UNRA staff, and UMEME which provided a connection for lighting during night.
We confronted these persons on Saturday March 12, 2022 and agreed (in the spirit of diplomacy) to halt all activities pending a meeting on Monday to resolve the impasse. Obviously, they reneged on their promise and continued with their illegal activities all through the night of Saturday March 12, 2022.
We embarked on a search and the following were discovered;
● That Kiham Enterprises Limited created four freehold titles on November 21, 2019 overlapping Kabaka’s Mailo titles comprised in Kyadondo Block 273 plot 87,99,110,161,165,167, 169, etc and Kyadondo Block 273 plot 38.
The practice of creating Freehold titles overlapping into Mailo titles is a recent land grabbing technique that targets erasure of original records and creating new records for purposes of land grabbing.

● We have also learnt that dumping soil into the drainage channel (which drainage channel is also located on Kabaka’s land registered to the KABAKA OF BUGANDA was sanctioned by individuals purportedly acting on behalf of Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) in complete violation of a COURT ORDER dated January 31, 2018.
● We are grateful that on March 15, 2022, UNRA acted swiftly and distanced itself from this violation and also rescinded previous permits that had been granted to the perpetrators. The activities were intended to create an access to other portions of land illegally created out of Kabaka’s land.
● The drainage channel is of great significance and importance to both Mirembe Villas and Serena Kigo and blocking it will affect the integrity of both projects. The channel and swamp, connecting to the lake, act as a big shove from wave action from lake, aids in reducing impacts of flooding, absorbs pollutants from the surface drainage of the Munyonyo Spur Road, among other water related ecosystem services.
● The dumping of earth in this drainage channel further violates a Consent Court order dated January 31, 2018 which was executed between Pearl Investments Group Ltd (Serena Kigo) and Uganda National Roads Authority arising out of HC Civil Suit no. 220 of 2017, wherein UNRA and Serena Kigo consented to having this drainage protected.

BUGANDA KINGDOM HAS THUS RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS
● Buganda Kingdom has petitioned the Commissioner Land Registration to use the powers conferred to him under section 91 of the Land Act to correct errors in the registry by cancelling the titles that were illegally issued to wit FRV WAK 104 FOLIO 25 PLOT 23977, FRV WKY 6419 Folio 22 Plot 23976, FRV WKY 6419 FOLIO 24 plot 23974
● Buganda Kingdom on behalf of the Kabaka of Buganda has further written and were presumably issued to Kiham Enterprises Limited over this land since Wakiso District Land Board has no land in this area, lacks any jurisdiction on it and couldn’t therefore give away any such land to Kiham Enterprises Limited.
● We implore NEMA to investigate the abuse and falsifications contained in the Environmental and Social impact Statement (ESIA)submitted by M/S Kiham Enterprises  (U) Limited on November 11, 2020 and other falsehoods relating to the ownership and acquisition of the land, and acquisition of the purpoted easement with the intention of rescinding any permission and taking punitive action against those criminal acts.
● We implore the Uganda Police to explain the circumstances relating to their actions in protecting and facilitating perpetrators of criminality and abuses of Court orders when in first instance, they should be keeping law and order and to bring to book any individual acts of abuse of office by members of its force or those misleading them into illegal actions and further to rescind all permissions granted in favour of Kiham Enterprises  (U)Limited in respect to the said land.
● Buganda Kingdom calls upon the proprietors of Kiham Enterprises (U) Limited, that is Mr. Hamis Kiggundu and Mr. Edward Nakibinge to respect the rule of law and act accordingly. They are advised to act within the confines of the laws governing land and the environment and further desist from misleading State Agents in perpetrating criminal activities that have characterised their behaviour since Friday last week.
● Buganda Kingdom has also further instructed M/s. S & L Advocates  (Sebalu and Lule Advocates) and M/s. K & K Advocates  (Kiwanuka & Karugire Advocates) to pursue the legal matters concerning cancellation of the illegal land titles and also proceed with the civil and criminal matters that may be incidental to these acts.

WHY UNRA WITHDREW PERMISSION GIVEN TO BUSINESSMAN HAMIS KIGGUNDU TO CREATE ROAD ON KABAKA’S KIGO LAND: THE INSIDE STORY

LANDLORD: Kabaka Mutebi II waving to his subjects this week at a function in Mengo Palace. He gave away 170 new motorbikes to Gombolola chiefs from all the 18 counties in Buganda to help them in the execution of Kingdom duties

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

FOLLOWING a letter written by Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to Kiham Enterprises (U) Ltd, a company owned by city businessman Hamis Kiggundu commonly known as Ham, withdrawing  permission the Roads body had given him to re-align the existing drainage channel and create access to land comprised in Kyadondo2 Block 273, plots 23974, 23975 and 23986 along Munyonyo spur, this news website has an inside story about this aborted deal!
Through Hamis Kiggundu’s front man Edward Nakibinge, UNRA has told Kiham (U) Ltd that, “The earlier granted permission has been withdrawn, revoked and/or rescinded with immediate effect.”
In a letter signed by Eng. Jacob K. Asiimwe who is the UNRA station manager Kampala, Hamis Kiggundu has been told that, “Reference is made to our letter dated 23rd November, 2020 granting you the permission. Further reference is made to our letter dated 14th March, 2022 stopping you from proceeding with works pursuant to earlier permission.”
Eng. Asiimwe’s letter dated March 16th 2022, was copied to UNRA’s top officials who included; Director legal services, Director road maintenance, Regional manager Central, LC Chairman Kigo Prison cell and another copy to Kajjansi1Police Station
This comes after UNRA discovered that the permission was granted based on the information Hamis Kiggundu provided about the ownership of the plots which has since been objected by the Buganda Land Board, an organisation set up by His Majesty Kabaka of Buganda to manage Kingdom land.
BLB last week wrote to UNRA bosses warning them about  permission given to Kiham Enterprises (U) Ltd to put a road on Kabaka’s land without the permission of the Land lord.
In a letter to the Director Maintenance Uganda National Roads Authority, BLB said Kiham (U) Ltd with the help and assistance of UNRA staff and another former UNRA employee William Matovu stormed Kabaka’s land at Kigo with the aim of creating a road thereon.
Letter said, they were doing this under the pretext of creating a drainage for the community which they purport to have been cleared by UNRA.
“We also understand that a one Frank Rutebarika, station manager Kampala purported to clear this transgression.” Read BLB letter to UNRA.
Kiham Enterprises (U) Ltd with assistance of UNRA officers was dumping murram to create the road on the subject land under the protection and deployment of police.
BLB reminded UNRA boss that, in all engagement and BLB relationship with UNRA, they know that UNRA follows standard procedures and guidelines including engaging and compensation of the affected parties which is not the case in this development.
BLB told UNRA bosses that, “This conduct is affecting us and our development partners and likely to affect our current and future relationship with you. It is also worth to note that, the land in subject is surrounded by Mirembe Villas, a Kingdom project and Lake Victoria Serena Hotel, a Kingdom tenant and both have not consented to your practices and violations. By copy of this letter, the Executive Director, Director legal services are required to intervene.”

Letter was copied to UNRA ED Allen Kagina, The director legal services UNRA and also to The director road and bridge development UNRA.

IT’S A LIE, HAM IS NOT OUR NEIGHBOUR – BLB
Responding to Hamis Kiggundu’s allegations that he is in agreement with his neighbour who is Kabaka, sources in BLB have strongly denied this advising Ham to stop spreading lies.
BLB sources have exclusively told the News Editor Media that,  “We are not his neighbours, Hamis Kiggundu’s free-hold title on Kabaka’s land is fake.”
Ham had told media how engagements with “Our neighbours will continue as far as support of the project, social licence (blending Hams Sports Club with the already existing developments) and living in harmony is concerned.”
Buganda Land Board says Hamis Kiggundu is a liar, he must stop trespassing on Kabaka’s land. Any attempts for him to grab Kabaka’s land will be foiled.
Ham had told press that being a company owned and run by loyal subjects and servants of His Highness The Kabaka of Buganda, it has no intentions of fighting the Kingdom whatsoever but rather welcomes and is open to reconciliation and mutual engagements at all times.
“The project is going to bring a lot of economic transformation to many Ugandans at large with Buganda inclusive.
In light of the above, the project proposal was submitted to NEMA for reviewing subsequently a NEMA approval certificate was obtained in December 2020 clearing the project to take off.” Said Hamis Kiggundu.
How ever BLB has revealed to us that, “NEMA had given him a certificate based on a misreprestation the way he lied to UNRA. But all that is now null and void.”
Last week, BLB wrote to both SCP Stephen Tanui the Kampala Metropolitan Police commander, Central Police Station and The Director Maintenance Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) calling for immediate intervention to stop the illegal construction of a drainage channel and road on Kabaka’s land comprised in Kyadondo Block 273 by Kampala businessman Hamis Kiggundu without permission from the land lord.
Mr. Hamis Kiggundu commonly known as Ham is, according to BLB, in conspiracy with UNRA staff to trespass and grab Kabaka’s land with the assistance of officers of Uganda police.
BLB requested both UNRA and Uganda Police to immediately intervene and prevail upon their staff and officers, halt all processes to avoid unnecessary conflicts and litigations.
Buganda Land Board is an Organisation set up by His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda to manage Kingdom land.
In letters dated Friday March 11, 2022 received by both KMP Tanui and the Director Maintenance Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), BLB said, “Kiham Enterprise  (U) Ltd owned by Hamis Kiggundu, with the help and assistance of police and UNRA have stormed Kabaka’s land at Kigo with the aim of creating the road and they are dumping murram thereon. The land onto which these illegal activities are being done, is Buganda Kingdom land and surrounded by Mirembe Villas Kigo, a Kingdom project and Lake Victoria Serena Hotel, a Kingdom tenant.”
The said land is on BLOCK 273 PLOT 3B & BLOCK 273 PLOTS 87,99,110, etc, at Kigo.
BLB’s letters said, Kiham Enterprises (U) Ltd erroneously and illegally created on official Kingdom Mailo land a freehold title comprised in WAK6104 FOLIO 25 BLOCK 273 PLOT 23977 at Kigo, and the same is subject to cancellation proceedings and at the Ministry of Lands.
“So it is not permissible that land and the subject of conflict can be used in the manner we are witnessing now.” BLB informed KMP Tanui whose police boys were witnessed in company of Ham and UNRA staff during the storming of Kabaka’s land at Kigo.
Buganda Land Board told KMP Tanui that, “We request your office to immediately intervene and stop the ongoing violation plus order for the withdrawal of police on the said land. We understand that these violations are deliberately being done towards the weekend so that it can be concluded with less interference.”

HAM’S FAKE TITLE
This news website has learnt that, Ham Kiggundu through a one David Nakibinge claims that he went to Wakiso district land board and acquired a freehold title on Kabaka’s land on which Mirembe villas and Serena Hotel Kigo are built.
On Friday 11th-March-2021, Ham Kiggundu in company of a one William Matovu who calls himself an employee of UNRA and Nakibinge who is a front man of Ham Kiggundu stormed Kabaka’s Kigo land plot 38 block 273 with trucks full of sand to dump in a swamp separating Mirembe Villas and Serena hotel Kigo to create a road which they say was to lead to their land.
As all that happened, Ham Kiggundu was reportedly hiding in a near by shrub to dodge media cameras.
Buganda Land Board, the custodian of Buganda Land stopped their ill intentioned activities and has written to Police and UNRA asking them to reign in Ham Kiggundu and his KIHAM enterprises to stop using force to encroach on Kabaka’s land illegally.
Buganda Land Board is hailed for doing everything possible to secure, protect and perfectly manage Kabaka’s land.
BLB’s campaign to all bibanja holders on Kabaka’s land to secure their tenancy on Kabaka’s land by registering their bibanja or obtaining lease, has been talked about as the best ever in fighting land evictions on Kabaka’s land.

HERE IS WHY BOGUS OPPOSITION POLITICAL WARS AGAINST NUP CAN’T DESTROY BOBI WINE OR THE PEOPLE POWER WAVE

0

A cartoon showing a man said to be a certain opposition political leader cutting down NUP but in vain

OPINION BY:
HON. GILBERT OLANYA
MP KILAK SOUTH
ACHOLI SUB-REGION

LET US learn to give time to our young stars, analyse and brighten up their lives. What I know is that God will never leave a vacuum in leadership structure.
Remember God sent Moses to lead his people to the promised land without looking at his age.

In Acholi, we have had very great and good leaders like: Norbert Mao, Reagan Okumu, Odonga Otoo, Okello Okello, Ogenga Latigo, Olum, Ocula, Beatrice Anywar among others. Shortly,  after these big shots, a vibrant class of leaders popped up to fill the gap.
I am not an Alpha and omega in Kilak South, its just a matter of time that my time will come to retire and give a leap to another leader. It will not be me but you, him or her who has interest in leading the people of Kilak South.
I have come to terms with the fact that we need  to find the best way in creating space for fresh minds surely, knowing that psychologically human beings get tired of the same old wine in a new bottle. People are always after fresh ideas, opinion and personalities.
When I look at what is happening in opposition, majority cannot believe that a young party would rise up and rally Ugandans to support its agenda of change.
Did we wait too long to find a messenger? Probably the time is now that God is answering our prayers by sending the principal  head of NUP to leapfrog Ugandans out of the cage of impunity.
Why are we not giving NUP time to show its ability and or potential instead of struggling to see it pass dead? The sad part of it is that the same people who are in opposition who would have helped strengthen are the same, working to cripple the struggle just for their selfish interests.

What is clear is that you will never force people to like you, even if you insult, demean or taint the innocent souls. Those engrossed in bogus political fights are merely turning into comedians because the people on the side are watching and laughing loud at the nonsensical issues qhich spread hate instead. Once they know you are a comedian, no one will take you seriously.
The Bible puts it clear, there is time for everything, allow time to dictate, calm down shut up and let the wave of change take precedence.
You may be good at that time of your leadership because God felt it was your time but soon your time will be over. He is preparing a way for the young and fresh blood to swing into action geared towards change.
Remember a cock may try it’s best to destroy the young cock but it won’t succeed, the young one will grow and take over despite the numerous kicks it may get along the way.
Uganda is beyond a tribal lineage and political cliques. Cheap and hungry wanks have resorted to tribal and hate speech to divide the nation further, but that nonsense needs to be tamed. We need to unite as a country for the betterment of our children.
Our constitution allows any one to stay in any part of this country but, the continued tribal fights is messing up the whole country and the would be generational leaders.
Finally as opposition, let’s stop fighting NRM wars, by destroying fellow opposition even if you are being used by the regime, tread carefully and continue licking your boots in peace.
For those playing double standard,  God is watching you so, I pray He guides you all on who to follow.

ROAD TO 2026: MEET SUSAN NAMATA WHO WANTS KALUNGU DISTRICT WOMAN MP SEAT

0

READY TO GO: Kalungu district woman MP Hopeful Susan Namata

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

AS the old adage goes…”The early bird, catches the worm….,” those planing to contest for political offices in 2026 have already started strategising!
In Kalungu district, Susan Namata, a graduate from Makerere is already warming up for the district woman Member of Parliament seat, she wants the incumbent Aisha Ssekindi seat, saying by 2026, terms the incumbent has served will have been enough for this State minister in charge of water.
For record purposes, Hon. Aisha Ssekindi is serving as woman member of Parliament for Kalungu district, on ruling NRM ticket.
Our sources reveal that, Ms. Namata has blessings from elders, opinion leaders and youth of Kalungu district. She has not yet identified with any political party. Her camp says, there is a right time for that.
We can however authoritatively report that, Namata is fully ‘armed’ to send Aisha Ssekindi packing, come 2026 General elections! Better be advised not to waste time contesting again in 2026!
In an exclusive interview with Susan Namata, without mincing words, she told News Editor Media that Aisha Ssekindi can remain with the ministerial deployment but the Member of Parliament seat is going away, come rain, come sunshine.
“Kalungu people want the world to know that they have many qualified ladies that can ably represent the women in  parliament as district woman representative. Iam a born of Kalungu, raised and grew up from Kalungu, educated from Kalungu and am  perfectly aware of the issues affecting our people and the district at large.” Said Ms. Susan Namata, adding that,  “When the right time comes,  yes we will present ourselves and have no doubt that we will make it to the 12th Parliament.”

Aisha Ssekindi is accused of totally failing to raise in Parliament issues affecting the girl child and women of Kalungu, girls walk long distances to school and many have dropped out of schools and the Member of Parliament is mute on this and other issues affecting the district.
“Only two voices are heard. One is NUP Hon. Gonzaga Ssewungu the MP Kalungu West and Hon. Francis Katabaazi, MP Kalungu East. The voice of a woman member of Parliament for Kalungu district is missing. I will offer myself to fill that gap, i will be a bold voice which will never disappoint my people of Kalungu district.” Pledged Ms. Namata.
Asked why elders have identified her to replace Aisha Ssekindi in 2026, Susan Namata revealed that there is need and urge to inspire the youth and women, one of the incentives that drive her into leadership.
Also, the need to uplift the hopeless elderly in the rural areas, to make sure that at least they get the basics when they go to hospitals, to make sure they find a medical personnel when they visit the hospitals, to lobby for a tarmac road which in turn changes the day to day running of businesses in an area, to deal with climate change and its effects by imploring the electorate to plant trees, preserve wetlands and incinerate or recycle plastics.
Susan Namata believes that with the right leadership and mindset, anything can possibly be achieved.
We asked her, if she breaksthrough and enters Parliament in 2026, where will she begin from,  Susan Namata said she is thinking about presenting a private member’s bill on an extensive and all inclusive education program saying she believes a skilled and educated citizenry is a sustaining population.
We wanted Namata to tell us a female member of Parliament who inspires her to join politics and why.
Susan Namata names Rt. Hon. Winnie Kiiza, 10th Parliament Leader of Opposition also former Kasese district woman Member of Parliament.
“Although she isnt a member of the 11th Parliament, Rt. Hon. Winnie Kiiza is my role model. Her voice and mode of working still echoes in my head. Her strength and vigour and the fact that she willingly quit elective politics, something which has proved to be so hard for politicians to consider.” Ms. Susan Namata told us In an interview.
After Winnie Kiiza, Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda comes second, according to Namata. She says, Ssemujju articulates issues very well and the FDC man is a committed legislator.
“If we had about ten legislators in the House who are superb like Hon. Ssemujju, the mode of operation of the legislature would be commendable.” Said Namata.
She noted that, The 11th parliament has an influx of new members so it’s only logical that they are still finding their way in.
“So we can’t blame them for not delivering as expected but the time is still early to judge, I believe they will work to deliver because they have the zeal and they are still youthful. I can’t ignore the fact that the house tends to prioritise issues that don’t deserve immediate attention and sideline issues of at most importance.” Says Namata.
About Parish development model, a newly unveiled government program to uplift house hold income, Susan Namata says it wouldn’t be a bad idea, “But it will still fail because the problems that hindered the success of its predecessors were not addressed and am pretty sure they are the same problems that are going to haunt the parish model as well.”

WHO IS SUSAN NAMATA
Daughter of the late Lugemwa Kizito and Robinah Nalwadda, Susan Namata is a born of Kamutuuza, Vvuma in Kalungu district.
She started her education at Kasaali primary school and later taken to Masaka Baptist Primary School for her upper primary.
Namata joined Masaka Parents Secondary School for O’ level and sat S.6 at Kijjabwemi SS.
She was admitted at Makerere University for Bachelors in arts and graduated professionally as a teacher.
Susan Namata is an entrepreneur and a farmer, specialising in bananas and coffee.
She is a Rotarian who interests herself in community work, doing community cleanups, painting faded zebra crossings and planting trees with an aim of dealing with climate change.
She is currently running a psychosocial program for learners in rural schools considering the two year lock down that was brought by the deadly Covid 19 pandemic.
Political Analysts say, if Susan Namata contests for Woman Member of Parliament Kalungu district in 2026, she will be a formidable force and Hon. Aisha Ssekindi should be ready to sweat plasma! All Ods are likely to favour  this young girl.

MUSLIMS SALUTE MP MUKASA FOR SHS 3M CASH TO SAVE KABOWA MASGID DINIA LAND AS PRESSURE FROM MOVIT’S TYCOON MOUNTS

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

MUSLIMS at Kabowa Masgid Hidyat Dinia are on pressure to raise UGX 1.2B to refund money for tycoon Simpson Birungi, the Executive Chairman of Movit Products Company Ltd if they are to reposes part of the mosque land bought by this businessman.
Yesterday during Juma prayers, area MP Hon. Aloysius Mukasa donated UGX 3M in cash and pledged to look for more funds so that the mosque land is not taken away by Movit. Muslims have saluted their Member of Parliament for being pro people and for the benevolent heart. They also promised to stand by their MP.
While handing over UGX 3M to the Imam, Hon. Mukasa noted that,  “When I was approached by Imam of Masgid Dinia to contribute towards reclaiming of Mosque land, I had to give it priority. As your area Member of Parliament, I have been vocal against land evictions.  I will not accept mosque land to be taken by a businessman. We will liase with other leaders to see how to stop this.”
Birungi, commonly known as ‘Movit ‘, is said to have bought part of this land in 2009 from the children of late Dinia, who donated land where this moque was built and named after him.
He demolished structures on  it in 2013 to redevelop it. However, Muslims approached and engaged him on a round table to allow them refund his money so that he doesn’t take away part of the mosque land.
They reached an agreement in 2019 and Movit demanded that they refund his UGX 1.2B he paid Dinia’s children for this land. He did not ask for any other peny apart from what he used to buy the land.
“Part of this money, UGX 800M, Movit had demanded that it is paid by February 2022 but Muslims did not make it and pressure is too much on the side of Muslims that they might lose chance to reclaim it.” Source revealed to this news Website.
Addressing hundreds of Muslims who attended Juma prayers yesterday and thereafter fundraised for this cause, Hon. Aloysius Mukasa pledged to lobby for more funds to save Dinia Mosque land.
MP Mukasa who is renown for defending Lubaga South people against land evictions was accompanied by fellow NUP area leaders who included Lord councilor Faridah Nakabugo, councilor Sylvia Nassozi, Yusuf Buwembo, John Baptist Ssegirinya John and others.
For starters, late Dinia donated this land to build a mosque. Muslims used part of it to construct Kabowa Hidyat Muslim Primary School and on another piece of this land they put small shops.
After the death of their dad, Dinia’s children claimed their land apart from where the mosque sits.
They wanted to demolish the school and construct shops but on request from Mosque leadership to preserve the Muslim school, children agreed on condition that they takeover leadership of the school.
Children took over 80% of the shares in the school, while Mosque  remained with only 20%.
About the other piece of land where Mosque leadership had put small shops, children decided to take it away and looked for a buyer.
That is how Movit bought that piece of land but now, Muslims are supposed to buy it from him at the exact amount he obtained it.
Will they manage to raise the UGX 1.2B Movit’s money or fail and leave Movit with no option but to develop his land?
Recently, Kampala minister Hajjat Minsa Kabanda went to Masgid Dinia and pledged to involve His Excellency the President to bail them out. On her behalf,  she gave UGX 2M.
We are not aware, how far with the presidential intervention but what we are sure of is,  pressure is too much and the Muslims need urgent bail out.
Thanks to Hon Mukasa this born giver and Lord councilor Nakabugo who also contributed towards this Noble cause.

BUSINESSMAN HAMIS KIGGUNDU, UNRA STAFF & POLICE IN TROUBLE OVER A FAKE TITLE ON KABAKA’S KIGO LAND

0

STORY BY MEDDIE KITYO
News Editor Media

KAMPALA businessman Hamis Kiggundu is in hot soup for trying to grab Kabaka’s land in Kigo by purporting to hold a freehold title on Kabaka’s mailo land title. This news website has learnt that, Ham Kiggundu through a one David Nakibinge claims that he went to Wakiso district land board and acquired a freehold title on Kabaka’s land on which Mirembe villas and Serena Hotel Kigo are built.

On Friday March 11, 2022, Ham Kiggundu in company of a one William Matovu who calls himself an employee of UNRA and Nakibinge who is a front man of Ham Kiggundu stormed Kabaka’s Kigo land plot 38 block 273 with trucks full of sand to dump in a swamp separating Mirembe Villas and Serena hotel Kigo to create a road which they say was to lead to their land.
As all that happened, Ham Kiggundu was reportedly hiding in a near by shrub to dodge media cameras.

Buganda Land Board (BLB), the custodian of Buganda Land stopped their ill intentioned activities and has written to Police and UNRA asking them to reign in Ham Kiggundu and his KIHAM enterprises to stop using force to encroach on Kabaka’s land illegally.

BLB has written to both SCP Stephen Tanui the Kampala Metropolitan Police commander, Central Police Station and The Director Maintenance Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) calling for an immediate intervention to stop an illegal construction of some drainage and road on Kabaka’s land comprised in Kyadondo Block 273 by Kampala businessman Hamis Kiggundu without permission from the land lord.
Mr. Hamis Kiggundu commonly known as Ham is, according to BLB, in conspiracy with UNRA staff to trespass and grab Kabaka’s land with the assistance of officers of Uganda police. BLB top boss has requested both UNRA and Uganda Police to immediately intervene and prevail their staff and officers, halt all processes to avoid unnecessary conflicts and litigations.
The land onto which these illegal activities are being done, is Buganda Kingdom land and surrounded by Mirembe Villas Kigo, a Kingdom project and Lake Victoria Serena Hotel, a Kingdom tenant.” The said land is on BLOCK 273 PLOT 3B & BLOCK 273 PLOTS 87,99,110, etc, at Kigo.
BLB letters say, Kiham Enterprises (U) Ltd erroneously and illegally created on official Kingdom Mailo land a freehold title comprised in WAK6104 FOLIO 25 BLOCK 273 PLOT 23977 at Kigo, and the same is subject of cancellation proceedings and at the Ministry of Lands.
“So it is not permissible that land, and the subject of conflict can be used in the manner we are witnessing now.” Kabogoza informed KMP Tanui whose police boys were witnessed in company of Ham and UNRA staff during the storming of Kabaka’s land at Kigo.
Buganda Land Board told KMP Tanui that, “We request your office to immediately intervene and stop the ongoing violation plus order for the withdrawal of police on the said land. We understand that these violations are deliberately being done towards the weekend so that it can be concluded with less interference.”
In a letter to the Director Maintenance Uganda National Roads Authority, BLB said Kiham (U) Ltd with the help and assistance of UNRA staff and another former UNRA employee William Matovu stormed Kabaka’s land at Kigo with the aim of creating a road thereon.
“They are doing that under a pretext of creating a drainage for the community which they purport to have been cleared by UNRA. We also understand that a one Frank Rutebarika, station manager Kampala purported to clear this transgression.” Reads BLB’s letter to UNRA. It said, by Friday, Kiham Enterprises (U) Ltd with assistance of UNRA officers was dumping murram to create the road on the subject land under the protection and deployment of police.
BLB reminded UNRA boss that, on all engagement and BLB relationship with UNRA, they know that UNRA follows standard procedures and guidelines including engaging and compensation of the affected parties which is not the case in this development.
“This conduct is affecting us and our development partners and likely to affect our current and future relationship with you. It is also worth to note that, the land in subject is surrounded by Mirembe Villas,a Kingdom project and Lake Victoria Serena Hotel, a Kingdom tenant and both have not consented to your practices and violations. By copy of this letter, the Executive Director, Director legal services are required to intervene.”Reads BLB’s letter to UNRA.
Letter was copied to UNRA ED Allen Kagina, The director legal services UNRA and also to The director road and bridge development UNRA.

Buganda Land Board is hailed for doing everything possible to secure, protect and perfectly managing Kabaka’s land.
BLB’s campaign to all bibanja holders on Kabaka’s land to secure their tenancy on Kabaka’s land by registering their bibanja or obtaining lease, has been talked about as the best ever in fighting land evictions on Kabaka’s land.
