DEAL SEALED! MUSEVENI CLEARS DP SG SIRANDA FOR EALA MP, DIRECTS TODWONG AND TAYEBWA TO LOCK OUT NUP & FDC

0

CLEARED: Dr. Gerald Siranda (2nd right) humbles himself before President Museveni, when the Head of State met IPOD Political Party Secretary Generals in State House last month

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

WHAT we told you a couple of days ago about the National Unity Platform (NUP) party and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), the two leading opposition Political Parties in Uganda that majority party NRM will play them syndicate for 2022-2027 EALA elections, has come to pass. The fact that their candidates will never make it to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), this news website can authoritatively reveal that, it is now a done deal.
President Yoweri Museveni who doubles as Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), a party with the majority Members of Parliament has directed Government Chief Whip (CGW) Thomas Tayebwa and Party Secretary General  (SG) Richard Todwong to start rallying all legislators behind Democratic Party Secretary General Dr. Gerald Blacks Siranda, DP’s flag bearer in the forthcoming EALA election.

Mr. Museveni has been reportedly directed that NUP and FDC be locked out, NRM MPs must vote DP and UPC candidates.
Yesterday, GCW Tayembwa held a meeting with Tayebwa at the former’s office to be briefed and given assurance that the ruling Party is officially behind his candidature,  let him just concentrate on planning for the swearing in function.
In a Tweet, CGW Tayebwa wrote, “My brother Gerald Siranda thank you for checking on me last evening. Congratulations on being chosen as the DP candidate for EALA.” Tayebwa did not, however, elaborate about this meeting.

Our sources in the office of CGW Tayebwa told us, the meeting of the two leaders was about sealing EALA deal as ordered by the Fountain of Honour.

MUSEVENI, SIRANDA’S MEETING
On Wednesday February 9, 2022 after President Museveni met the four political party secretary generals who attended the Inter-Party Organisation Dialogue (IPOD) at State House Nakasero, Dr. Siranda asked for a few minutes to privately talk to the IPOD boss, Mr. Museveni.
For starters, Museveni is the current Chairman IPOD. That day, the IPOD meeting was attended by JEEMA’s Muhammad, UPC’s Fred Ebil, DP’s Siranda and NRM’s Richard Todwong.
In a very humble soft voice, Dr. Siranda a young man from Eastern region told Museveni that, “Your Excellency, I won DP Primaries for EALA but there is no way I can make it without your blessings. Sir, I am begging you to help me achieve my dream.”
Siranda told a listening Museveni that  he is well furnished with issues of regional coperation and the need for a common maket, so if sent to Arusha, he will foster the cause.
He talked about himself as a peace loving citizen who detests activism, telling the Head of State that he will lift the Ugandan flag higher if he gets the President’s endorsement.
In his response, Museveni said he was happy to hear that DP is sending a young man he knows very well.
“NRM will support your candidature. I will direct NRM Secretary General to immediately work on that. All will be fine my son, you are a very discplined muzzukulu.” Noted the President.
We are told, there after, Museveni acted immediately and gave directives to Todwong and Tayebwa to make sure Siranda goes through undisturbed.

WHY WITH MUSEVENI’S BLESSINGS IT’S A DONE DEAL FOR DR. SIRANDA
529 members of the 11th Parliament will vote the 9 MPs to represent Uganda in the EALA for a term beginning 2022 to 2027.
Uganda, like any of the six member countries (Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and South Sudan), sends 9 MPs to EALA. Of the 9 seats, ruling NRM normally gives themselves 6 seats, 1 goes to Independents and 2 shared among all the opposition parties in Uganda.
Fact is, only Parties in good books with the majority NRM win these two seats. DP and UPC are the favourites, although recently FDC is talked about as a new entrant in the club!
Siranda is comming in to fill the place that has been occupied by Hon. Fred Mukasa Mbidde whose two terms ends this year. Fact is, there is nothing that has sold Siranda like the Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) meetings. He has been in top leadership and this has brought him closer to leaders of different political parties more so NRM which has the majority MPs. These meetings have depicted him as a national leader who agitates for peace, good governance and dialogue.
For those who don’t know, going by the 11th Parliament composition with NRMs being the majority, there is no way an opposition member can win EALA seat without NRM endorsement.
NRM has a total of 339 MPs. Opposition are only 107 out of 529 MPs. Even if they are allowed to vote twice, opposition MPs can’t take through their candidate. So, NRM votes count and Dr. Siranda has this vote.
Now that all signs show Siranda has been endorsed by ‘baba’, it’s automatic he will sail through.
The second candidate will automatically come from UPC, a party which is officially in bed with the ruling NRM. This categorically means, FDC and NUP should not waste time fronting candidates, seats are for DP and UPC.
We think it’s not too early to congratulate Dr. Siranda upon this great achievement in life.

UNDERSTANDING HOW AMERICA TRICKED RUSSIA TO INVADE UKRAINE AND THE US FOREIGN POLICY STRATEGY

0

ANALYSIS BY:
ADAM LUZINDANA BUYINZA
News Editor Media

SLAVICS or Soviets are killing each other…Ukranians and Russians are both Soviets or Slavs…the war is killing Russian and Ukranian soldiers!
Ukraine is fully destroyed and I doubt the looser is Uganda, America or Whites, it’s the Slavs/Soviets.
Russian President Vuldamir Putin a powerful leader could have been misled by CIA to go to a war with a commedian!
Putin has a short temper, ego and emotion, his enemies exploited that to lead him to a useless war.
Just like here in Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s enemies who were once in security, wanted to incite our President to wage a war on our neighbour Rwanda. This war would be costly, useless and it would lead to the fall of Museveni’s regime.
However, President Museveni is unique. He is not like Putin, he decided to ignore and kept quiet. Today Mzee is a winner without a single bullet.
Back to the Russia-Ukraine war, Arabs in Yemen are fighting Arabs in Saudi Arabia.
Arabs in Yemen are fighting Arabs in UAE, Arabs in Iran are fighting with Arabs in Saudi Arabia.
In Lebanon, Hezbollah is fighting against the regime, In Khartoum, Arabs are fighting each other, in Korean Peninsula, North Korea are at war against South Korea.
Go to the far East, China fighting with Taiwanese and one day they will go to full scale war.
NOTE that all the groups I have mentioned are of same blood, same race and same history. Why are these fellows killing each other?
Answer is, all of them are promoting, propelling, bolstering and deepening the US Foreign Policy either knowingly or after being misled into silly wars and hatred. How could Russia fall in USA trap
In every region where people of same blood are fighting, there are American industrial military firms selling weapons, world bank and IMF expanding, reconstruction programs going on,etc..
To an excited person, it’s ofcourse complex to comprehend these things.
In nutshell, The Russia – Ukraniane War is a useless war. Putin, a great leader was tricked into a war thinking that it will reduce on NATO Influence and deployment, but instead the war is a precursor to further NATO expansion in the furthest part of Eastern Europe.
For purposes of defending NATO, USA and NATO Military are now expanding into polland, Romania and Estonia.
Estonia is just 860kms from Russia. When putin declared war, USA expanded it’s military base in Tallin city Estonia which is not far from russia. USA is now expanding it’s naval base in The Baltic Sea which is in Tallin, Estonia near Russia.
With war in Ukraine, the USA foreign policy strategy has changed in the baltic sea to now focus on deploying Naval warships. Baltic sea region for some of you who have no idea is bordering Russia and it has countries like Estonia, Lithuania and Lativia. All those three are in NATO and after Russia invasion of Ukraine, they have called for USA to expand bases.
Russia invasion of Ukraine, countries like Finland and Sweden are going to join NATO. Finland connects to the Baltic Sea region.
The overall strategy of the USA is to create instability at the Russian border using Russia itself. USA has now succeeded. It tricked Putin to attack Ukraine hence the birth of hatred and permanent instability. We will start from here….

LUBAGA SOUTH NUP SUPPORTERS REJECT ‘KUNGA-CAMPAIGN’ COMMITTEE APPOINTED BY FARIDAH NABATANZI MAYOR MBERAZE & FUGGE, LIST CANCELLED

KAMWOKYA

A MEETING which was slated to convene yesterday at the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party Headquarters in Kamwokya Kampala to confirm appointed committee members sitting on the Lubaga South Constituency NUP KUNGA Campaign was cancelled by top party leadership after petitions from supporters accusing one Faridah Nabatanzi of fronting names of people not known in NUP.
Faridah Nabatanzi who contested and lost MP seat for Buikwe district woman MP is the NUP Deputy Secretary for National Mobilisation.
She is accused of dancing on the tunes of Lubaga Mayor Zaccky Mawula Mberaze and his deputy Rehema Fugge who sent her names of their relatives and friends to head party mobilisation committee in the constituency without consultation of supporters and other leaders in the Constituency.
News editor Media reached Ms. Nabatanzi who deliberately turned a deaf ear when other leaders advised her about the names she had fronted during a hot meeting on Friday.
The proud and defiant Nabatanzi chose to be pharoah’s parody when she hang on us after asking, “Who do think you are to question my decision?”. Nabatanzi was enraged when our reporter sought to know which criteria she had followed in appointing Mberaze and Fugge’s friends plus relatives to head party mobilisation in Lubaga South.
Party sources have revealed to this fastest growing news website that the meeting Nabatanzi had organised to officially declare the Lubaga South Kunga committee was cancelled by top party leadership to save NUP from embarrassment.
A party top official revealed that, “We can’t allow this meeting to go on. There are issues which must be addressed first or else, we might be cornered by our political enemies. We are looking for members with capability to mobilise for the party, not rewarding friends and relatives.”
“The party is heading for a serious mobilisation, we dont want those who will try. Where Mobilisation is concerned, only the best is good enough. This assignment calls for people that understand and have what it takes, this is no child’s play” Said one of NUP bosses who asked for anonymity.

DETAILS
In a meeting held at Busaabala and attended by the Principal Hon. Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, it was agreed upon that, no one should be appointed a member on the mobilisation committees if he or she is an elected leader, contested as an independent, related to an elected leader or from a camp of any elected leader.
Before that, there was a team which had been appointed to mobilise in Lubaga but because it had names like Musa Lusembo who is a councilor, that committee was discontinued.
After the Busaabala meeting,  Chairman Fred Nyanzi asked NUP top leaders in Lubaga to identify names of those who can make good mobilisers for the party.
We are reliably informed, Rubaga South MP Hon. Aloysius Mukasa penned some names, so did Mayor Mberaze and his deputy. The committee was announced and it was led by Yusuf Buwembo, who had showed his moblization prowess  in Lubaga during 2021 elections.
Insiders say, Mberaze, Ffugge and Lusembo secretly met Nabatanzi and influenced her to remove hardworking boy Buwembo over unclear reasons.
On learning that Buwembo who had support of almost all the other leaders in Lubaga South apart from the three, this move was protested.
In fact, Mberaze and Ffugge had forwarded names of their relatives and friends, something which leaders in Lubaga strongly rejected.
A meeting was on Friday called to harmonise the situation in Lubaga and it was a hot one. Ffugge feared to enter and locked herself in Mberaze’s car.
In the meeting attended by; Hon. Mukasa Aloysius, Mayor Mberaze Zaccky, Maxencia Nakanjakko (Mberaze supporter), Lord councilor Nakabugo Farida, councilor Lusembo Musa (Fugge supporter), Councilor Kyagaba Alex (Mberaze supporter) and Kayabula a staff in Mberaze’s office, the following names were read out by Faridah Nabatanzi:

  1. Segirinya John B.(Busega)
  2. Namagembe A. (Busega)
  3. Lumala P. (Nateete)
  4. Sekalega V. (Nateete)
  5. Pastor Kakande (Mutundwe)
  6. Kisitu Moses (Mutundwe)
  7. Ddamulira C.(Najja II)
  8. Nsereko S. (Najja II)
  9. Nakanjakko M. (Kabowa)
  10. Masitula N. (Kabowa)
  11. Bunkeddeko Guluddene( Najja I)
  12. Moses Musilamu (Najja I)
  13. Wasswa Culton (Lubaga)
  14. Kakooza R. (Lubaga)
  15. John Pool (Ndeeba)
  16. Hanifa (Ndeeba Agrey)
Leaders did not agree on some of the selected names and sought to know why Mberaze fought Buwembo’s name off the list with the help of his office attendant Kaayabula Edrisa and instead put his photographer Culton Wasswa and Fugge’s daughter Aisha Namagembe who totally know nothing about NUP.
They accused Mberaze of influencing Nabatanzi to include names like a one Bunkeddeko from Najjanankumbi who is a renown DP member and has been blackmailing and insulting Hon. Kyagulanyi on many WhatsApp groups.
This Bunkeddeko guy, one time ran away with nomination papers of NUP youth councilor aspirants in Najjanankumbi lying that he was taking them to Kamwokya to be stamped. He instead took them to DP Nateete office and had them stamped as DP flag bearers.
NUP Party leaders in Lubaga had to look for other nomination papers at the last minute, to get a NUP stamp.
Now leaders and party supporters in Lubaga South want the National Mobilisation committee to thoroughly investigate Mr. Bunkeddeko and find out, when has he ever supported NUP and what is Mberaze’s motive in bringing a name of a DP supporter to mobilise for NUP.
In the 2021 elections, it is on Bunkeddeko campaigned for SDP candidate Lubega Mukaaku and he strongly fought NUP candidates save for his friend Mberaze who was contesting for Lubaga Mayor.
Among other members questionable is a one Waswa Culton who is Mberaze’s photographer and apart from taking mayor’s photos while he is doing some activities, Culton isn’t known and can’t mobilise for the party. He was the campaign manager for Lubega Mukaaku in 2021 and their camp performed poorly. There are facts pinning Waswa Culton for blackmailing Kyagulanyi and NUP candidates during elections. Mberaze influenced Nabatanzi to include his photographer.
Others on the list are Aisha Namagembe, daughter to Rehema Fugge, staff in Mberaze’s office and other friends.
This is why supporters and leaders petitioned the office of the National Mobiliser to verify this list before it is declared officially, which has been accepted.

In the next story, we will bring you the naked truth and details why Mberaze and Ffugge are fighting Buwembo who was a top NUP campaigner in Lubaga South and why Party bosses should be careful while handling this issue

UGANDA’S NEW OIL DEAL: LET’S CONFRONT THE BRUTAL TRUTH

0

OPINION BY:
BRIAN MUKALAZI
bmukalazi@ecmafrica.org

A FEW weeks ago, I wrote a commentary in these pages about Uganda’s oil and its eminent fall in value by the year 2050. Of course, my unsettling prediction remains a “May be” and who knows, Uganda’s oil could flourish, boost our economy and push us further unto the development ladder even beyond 2050. Besides, similar predictions have been made about Russia and the Middle East’s oil market for over 100 years but have never materialized. You can also clic here and read; HERE IS WHY UGANDA’S OIL MAY BE WORTHLESS BY 2050
Like many Ugandans, I truly believe that this new oil deal, backed by the Final Investment Decision (FID) recently signed between Uganda and the Joint venture partners, will be a game-changer and a step in the right direction in the achievement of our economic development aspirations.
However, despite these confident assertions, Ugandans should be aware that if we are to derive any meaningful benefits from this oil deal, we need to be candid and confront some brutal, ugly facts. Our leaders need to look harder and ask: “What do we have to do or change in order to benefit from this deal as a country?”
In pursuit of that, I would expect us to start by examining the project itself. The Project, which will include the development of two oil fields on the shores of Lake Albert and the construction of a 1,445-kilometre East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), is estimated to require an investment of about $10 billion, with production anticipated to start in 2025.
But many questions, with few answers, have been raised regarding the source of financing for this $10 billion investment. This makes me skeptical because I am already aware that at least 11 international banks, three insurance companies and the African Development Bank have all ruled out supporting the project.
Our government should, therefore, probe this risk and engage the Joint venture partners regarding the same. Research indicates that this would not be the first project to reach a final investment decision without all the finances in place. A number of similar projects, such as the Lamu coal plant in Kenya, were subsequently cancelled.
Next question: What is in for the local contractors? The New Vision recently reported that only about 13 per cent of the entire oil cake for the Kingfisher Project (one of the projects under the FID) will be shared among local suppliers and contractors, with about 85 per cent expected to fly abroad, along with the foreign contractors.
If the same is translated to the other projects under the deal, then, I am afraid to say that the deal may not be worthwhile. Aspects of inadequate capacity and knowledge have been highlighted for this mishap but has the Petroleum Authority of Uganda conducted the required needs assessments to evaluate and develop local content?
Then come the monster of corruption: How can we talk about a project as large as this without considering corruption? In my opinion, Uganda has the tools – regulations and institutions – to fight corruption, but lacks the commitment and will to do so. And if there’s a slight change in our priorities towards combating corruption, without a single doubt, the results from this oil deal will be enormous for our country.
In countries such as Nigeria, Gabon, Angola and the Equatorial Guinea, the existence of oil has exacerbated corruption levels. And this has had devasting effects on these economies, in terms of economic and social development. In Nigeria, estimates indicate that more than $400 billion of oil money has been misused over the last 50 years.
But there are exceptions to this: countries such as Norway, Canada and Botswana have bucked the oil curse through strong state management and institutions that can stand against corruption.
According to John Ghazvinian, author of Untapped: The Scramble for Africa’s Oil, the flow of oil riches can also create bizarre contrasts. Luanda, the capital of Angola and also the centre of its oil industry, is just one example. Luxury high-rises have been built there despite the country’s extreme poverty, and oil companies are paying more than $15,000 a month to rent apartments for their employees.
For expatriates, “it’s one of the most expensive cities in the world,” he says. “The disparity between rich and poor there is like nowhere else in the world.” Oil companies are flocking to the country because its reserves lie offshore, allowing for safer drilling.
And how about the environmental concerns? The deal, especially EACOP, has come under intense scrutiny over what many environmentalists term as a total environmental breach. They argue that EACOP poses a multitude of risks – to communities, nature, wildlife and the climate.
It is further said that the project has already caused large-scale displacement of local communities and poses grave risks to protected environments, water sources and wetlands in both Uganda and Tanzania, including the Lake Victoria basin, which millions of people rely upon for drinking water and food production.
Among other cited dangers, environmentalists fear that it will rip through some of the world’s most important elephant, lion and chimpanzee nature reserves. There is also concern that the pipeline is a harbinger for the opening up of critical ecosystems, such as Murchison Falls National Park, to oil extraction.
Like I have said before, this oil deal presents our country with a great opportunity to finally make that leap into the middle-income category or even beyond. But it is upon our patriotic men and women in positions of power – government and alike – to confront the brutal facts and avoid the so-called ‘oil curse’. We are counting on you!

YUSUF BUWEMBO: FORMER DP CHAIRMAN WHO WAS FIRED BY NORBERT MAO FOR CONFRONTING HIM AND SAYING, ‘PUBLIC WANT BOBI WINE FOR PRESIDENT NOT YOU’

0

NUP CHAIRMAN RUBAGA: Yusuf Buwembo

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

BORN 40 years ago, Yusuf Buwembo, a younger brilliant opposition politician who is credited for his super mobilisation skills and tactics has no regrets for defecting from Democratic Party where he was the Party Chairman Rubaga South Constituency to then newly formed National Unity Platform.
He is currently Chairman NUP Rubaga Division. He was endorsed and elected by Rubaga NUP Members of Parliament, councilors and other leaders.
A story about how Mr. Buwembo confronted DP president General Norbert Mao in 2018, looked straight into his eyes and openly told him how Public was waiting for Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine in 2021, not this former Gulu Municipality MP so he better rally DP behind NUP’s presidential aspirant or be embarrassed politically, is very interesting!

Mao reacted angrily saying, “Mr. Buwembo you nolonger qualify to be a DP Chairman. How can you “.
He ordered Party Secretary General Gerald Blacks Siranda to immediately draft a letter firing him from the post of DP Chairman Rubaga South Constituency.
“Indeed Mr. Siranda wrote the letter and authorised then acting DP Chairman Dr. Kiwanuka to organise elections in Rubaga South to vote out chairman Buwembo and his committee.” A source knowledgeable about all that transpired revealed to this news website. Kiwanuka Kwatakunsawo was declared the new Chairman for DP in Lubaga South.
Buwembo was sacked with all committee members who included; William Mpanga (Vice Chairman), Angela Kigonya (Women leader), Evelyn Nakiryowa (Vice-Women), Emmanuel Kizza (Youth), Charles Mulindwa (Secretary General), Christopher Ddamulira (Organising secretary), Uthman Bukenya (Deputy Secretary General), among others.
None of the above did Mao, Siranda or Kiwanuka consult before organising an illegal election to remove them from office over Bobi Wine.
The only crime committed by their Chairman Yusuf Buwembo when without fear or favour told President General Norbert Mao that he was a liability politically, so should lead DP to rally behind Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to contest for President in 2021 because he was the public choice, especially millions of youth look up at Bobi as their inspirer.

CHAIRMAN BUWEMBO DEFECTS WITH RUBAGA DP LEADERSHIP TO NUP
A day after Mao and Siranda carried out a coup on Buwembo and his committee, we have been briefed that, he immediately convened a meeting at which all members who served on the committee unanimously agreed to leave Mao’s party and defect to the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Buwembo led this group to the Headquaters of NUP at Kamwokya and met Party official Mr. Lwanyaga who welcomed them with open hands.
The team later met Hon. Kyagulanyi and this is when Bobi asked Buwembo to go and mobilize for NUP in Rubaga ahead of 2021 General election, an assignment this young man did with one heart and recorded victory for the party in Rubaga.
On hearing that Buwembo had officially crossed to NUP with all DP leaders, Mao called apologising for having been misled by his conscience to throw him out of office. “Please return home, I can give you a better deployment….” Buwembo just hanged up on Mao.

HOW BUWEMBO DISPLAYED MOBILISATION SKILLS AHEAD OF 2021 ELECTION
He started his assignment during the election of youth councils.
For over 20 years, all youth councils in Rubaga were dominated bythe ruling NRM party. Buwembo changed this narrative.
In liason with the then Rubaga South NUP MP aspirant Aloysius Mukasa, Buwembo mobilised the Rubaga south masses to vote for a NUP youth candidate which NUP candidate Sylvia Nassozi defeat the NRM candidate.

RACE FOR COUNCILORS IN RUBAGA
A resident of Mutundwe-Kabaawo Zone in Rubaga, Buwembo decided to run for councilor on NUP ticket during the 2021 elections. He however missed the party flag.
Many of his supporters thought he would run as an independent but refused saying he can’t go against his Party official position.
All candidates for councilor convened a meeting from where they elected Buwembo for Rubaga South Constituency NUP Chairman. Even Ivan Mubiru had interest but he was asked to concentrate on his election. He was contesting for councilor.
As a top mobilizer, Buwembo invited all party candidates for councilors in Rubaga South to work as a team so that they secure a win for the Party.
He offered himself to go from one electoral area to another mobilising for all NUP flag bearers in Rubaga South, a job he perfectly did without excuses.
Out of 45 councilors in Rubaga South, 36 won on NUP ticket.

MP ALOYSIUS MUKASA
It’s true, a few MP candidates, if any, matched the mobilisation muscle of Rubaga South legislator Hon. Aloysius Mukasa!
Since he declared his intension to contest for Rubaga South MP in 2017, Mukasa’s name became a household name in all villages, zones and parishes making up Rubaga South constituency. But this couldn’t mean his win is sealed.

He had to appoint Buwembo his campaign manager who worked tooth and nail to consolidate the MP ‘MAP’S victory. Out of 14 candidates in the race of MPs for Rubaga South Constituency race, Mukasa won by about 75%

IN CHARGE OF BOBI, MALENDE AND MUKASA DR FORMS
Rigging of elections is very common at the Electoral commission declaration centres especially if some agents are bribed to sell DR forms.
Buwembo was in charge of DR forms in Rubaga South for the NUP Presidential candidate Hon. Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende and Rubaga South MP Aloysius Mukasa.
Earlier before elections, Buwembo met NUP polling agents and gave them tips on how to protect Party votes.
Amidst threats and all sorts of intimidation, Buwembo braved on, he was seen riding on a bodaboda collecting all DR forms. And he indeed managed to get each and every DR form. That is why Rubaga South results were among the first to be declared by Electoral Commission.

RUBAGA MAYORAL ELECTIONS
After NUP winning MP elections in Rubaga South, Buwembo did not rest, he approached then MP-elect Aloysius Mukasa, asked him to improvise his Public Address system and a truck which Buwembo himself used to move around Rubaga mobilising NUP Voters to return to polls and elect NUP candidates for KCCA and Rubaga division.
Although like other regions, Rubaga people were demoralised by Presidential election outcomes, Buwembo urged NUP supporters to soldier on and massively vote NUP candidates for local government.
You can not underestimate Buwembo’s efforts in the victory of Rubaga Mayor Zaccy Mberaze Mawula commonly known Taata Namuli, who was less known in the circles of NUP and he was tussling it out with Owek. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebuggwawo, a popular leader in Buganda Kingdom.
In fact in one of the meetings at Pope Paul, Buwembo told all contestants for councillor on NUP ticket in Rubaga that,  “Your win can only be guaranteed by the win of our candidate for mayor, Mberaze. Please let us work as a team, we must all win as a team. Wherever you go for your kakuyege, talk about our candidate for mayor, Mberaze.”
That is how Mberaze defeated Owek Ssebuggwawo to be declared, Rubaga mayor.

COUNCILORS RETREAT AT KAAZI
After elections, Buwembo organised all Rubaga councillors’ retreat in Kaazi funded by some of the NUP councilors ahead of Rubaga division Speaker elections.
Some NUP councilors led by Musa Lusembo had convened a meeting which was attended by Mberaze at Jevine Hotel and shockingly invited an NRM candidate for Speaker Musa Mbaziira to address them and ask for votes.
This angered lord councilor Faridah Nakabugo questioning the motive of Musa Lusembo in inviting an NRM councilor in NUP meeting.
When he was called to address NUP councilors, Mbaziira bragged about how he had funded the likes of Lusembo campaigns, so he was rightly invited.
In the presence of mayor Mberaze,  Musa Mbaziira was given over 20 minutes to campaign for Speakership yet Lusembo gave less five minutes to each NUP aspirants for the same position.
No wonder, NRM candidate for Speaker defeated NUP Candidate in a council where NUP councilors are the majority.
But before this embarrassment, Buwembo had warned councilors during a Kaazi meeting not to be hoodwinked by the Mbaziira camp which was spreading lies that he had the powers to increase their salary.

Buwembo invited Rubaga North MP elect Abubaker Kawalya who once served as KCCA Speaker to dilute Mbaziira lies about the roles of the Speaker. Kawalya delegated Lord councilor Faridah Nakabugo.
However, Lusembo, Kayima and Sharifah Nakitende chose to deal with their colleague, Musa Mbaziira who later defeated NUP’s Rehema Fugge for Speaker!
For starters, the three councilors; Lusembo, Nakitende and Kayima served during Mayor Ssebuggwawo’s tenure and they were too close to Mbaziira who was the Speaker. In fact, he took them to NALI Kyankwanzi.  (We shall come back to this Kyankwanzi story).

THE LIFE OF BUWEMBO IN RUBAGA POLITICS
He actively joined politics in 2006 during late Winnie Makumbi campaigns for Rubaga Mayor.
As a youth, Yusuf Buwembo was a strategist and Winnie Makumbi liked him so much. After her victory, she appointed him to do her administrative work. It’s unfortunate that Winnie died before completion of her term as Rubaga mayor.

In 2011, Buwembo was at Rubaga South constituency level mobilising and sensitising people about opposition politics in Uganda.
During 2016 campaigns,  he moved around Uganda with opposition leaders campaigning for opposition and participating in seminars organised by opposition leaders. He was already the DP Chairman in charge of Rubaga South Constituency. This story will be continued!

FINALLY! SECURITY MINISTER JIM MUHWEZI COMMISSIONS KYABAHANGA BRIDGE CONNECTING RUKUNGIRI TO KANUNGU DISTRICT

0

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

KYABAHANGA bridge connecting Rukungiri to Kanungu district has been commissioned this morning by security minister Hon.Gen. Jim Muhwezi, thanks to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Works was tendered out in April 24, 2019 to a local contractor M/s Armpass Technical Services.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Works and Transport, the contract was originally worth UGX 10.4 billion.  The commencement date was July 30, 2019 while the original completion date was supposed to be July 29, 2020.
The main structure was to comprise of a 3-span 30m long reinforced concrete bridge; with other works to include significant river training and channel protection using gabions. It is important to note that River Kyabahanga has a considerable catchment area.

“Consequently, the river flow at the bridge location was found to be very high during rainy seasons. Apart from this, there were other site conditions that posed technical challenges while deriving an appropriate structure to be constructed.” Reads a statement from the Ministry.
Challenges included the meandering nature of the river, and the huge deposits of soil that had left stable foundation layers buried to significant depths.
Mainly as a result of the inconsistent nature and apparent weak foundation soils, provision was made in the contract for design review following additional geotechnical investigations in the river course.
These had to take place after a platform for the drilling rig is constructed. Although it took some time, the design review was successfully done and revised drawings were subsequently approved and issued to the contractor.
