PEACEMAKER: SPEAKER AMONG RECONCILES RIVALLING BISHOPS

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

RT. HON. Anita Annet Among, Speaker Parliament of Uganda has today mediated a religious conflict that had since 2019 inflamed tensions in a section of the Teso Sub Region.
The conflict had for a long time pitted Christians of the Church of Uganda Kumi Diocese led by Rt. Rev Okwii Esakha against those of  the Reform Anglican Church led by Rt. Rev Charles Okunya, Upper Nile Diocese in the districts of Kumi, Bukedea and Ngora, prompting Speaker Anita Among to convene a meeting  between the  rival leaders with the view of reaching an agreeable solution.
Speaking during a meeting that was attended by other leaders including the IGP, Ms Among, who also chaired the meeting, urged both Rt. Rev Okwii and Rt. Rev Okunya to calm the tensions by listening to each other as well as encouraging congregants to stop the fight and the violence that has already injured a number of people as well as causing insecurity in the three districts of Kumi, Bukedea and Ngora.

“We must co-exist and deal with this hostility that is diving our people,’’ she said, noting that religious leaders should be a symbol of unity rather than seeking to divide people along religious, property or politics lines.
The conflicted started after Reformed Anglican Church broke away from the Church of Uganda last year following the cancellation of the Rev Okunya’s election as the second Bishop of Kumi Diocese in 2019 and the subsequent consecration of Rev. Okwii in March last year.
The House of Bishops had on November 19, 2019 elected Rev Okunya, but Christians petitioned the electorate, alleging that the Bishop-elect had falsified his age and engaged in extra-marital affair.
He was subsequently replaced with Rev Okwi, which angered a section of Christians, resulting into sporadic episodes of violence in which a number of Christians have been injured while others have lost property.

During the meeting, Ms Among urged the religious leaders to stop inflaming tensions, noting that: “Even where there have been misunderstandings, it is dangerous to choose a path that is first and foremost, against the ways of God, and outside the laws of the land.’’
A number of meetings have been held at different levels in an attempt to find a solution to the conflict but have not yielded much.
However, the two Bishops – Rev Okwii and Rev Okunya – have agreed to reconcile and forge a way forward.

The meeting was attended by the deputy inspector General of Police Maj Gen Katsigazi Tumusiime, who commended Ms Among for volunteering to mediate between the two parties.
However,  he warned the religious leaders against continuing with the violence, failure of which will lead to arrests.

‘’This is the first meeting of the many we have conducted that has yielded some positive results, however, I will not hesitate to arrests anyone if we register any more attacks  affiliated to any of the churches.’’ he said.

POLICE AGAIN BLOCKS MP KAWALYA EASTER CUP FOOTBALL FINALS, NUP SAYS, THIS IS A PLOT TO DISRUPT KUNGA ACTIVITIES

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

ALTHOUGH Rubaga North legislator Abubaker Kawalya fulfilled all conditions put by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for him to clear netball and Football finals, today morning, a forest of police men armed to teeth were deployed at Lungujja Young Flat Playground in Lungujja parish, the venue for the Kawalya Abubaker Easter Cup.
By press time, police had blocked all roads to the play ground and none of the officers tells the community why they deployed on the match day.

“The Uganda Police Force, whose core mandate should be protecting and serving all Ugandans despite their political affiliations has over the time depreciated into a total NRM Political Wing, hence using only political lenses to judge or interpret situations as witnessed today morning at the venue of MP Kawalya Abubaker Easter Cup.” Reads a statement from Hon. Kawalya’s office.
According to the statement, they sense about a plot by owers that be to halt, disrupt and disorganize all Opposition activities within Buganda especially those linked to Kunga, NUP mobilization campaign, in order to deny the Opposition any chances of consolidating their support.
In a letter dated April 14, 2023 under the reference MP209/012/066/102 , which we have seen, Hon. Kawalya Abubaker addressed the Inspector General of Police to this fete, to which the IGP responded by requesting the MP and organizers to avail proof of clearance from FUFA, Local Authorities, and also clearance for the venue, which conditions were fulfilled.

For the past one month, the youths within Rubaga North have been competitively engaging in an inter-parish football tournament code named Kawalya Abubaker Easter Cup as one of Hon. Kawalya’s agenda to identify and develop talents among the youth.
The competitions were so peaceful, and the youths within the five (5) parishes of Rubaga North which includes; Lungujja Parish, Lubya Parish, Kasubi Parish, Namirembe Parish and Nakulabye embraced it.
Lubya Parish and Lungujja Parish are the two (2) teams that managed to reach the finals, which were supposed to be played on Easter Sunday, but Police disrupted the the same, forcing organizers to postpone the activity to today at Young Playground in Lungujja after engaging various stakeholders.
Rubaga District Football Association maintain that, “As mandated by FUFA to oversee all football activities with Rubaga do acknowledge Kawalya Abubaker Easter Cup and enjoy a good working relationship with Mr. Kawalya’s office.”
It should be noted that Section 5 and Section 10 of the Public Order Management Act (POMA) that used to empower police to regulate public gatherings were eliminated by the Constitutional Court, not once but twice.
Statement says, this has not stopped police, which should enforce the Law from crushing gatherings, including football matches as long as they are linked to the Opposition
The two sections came under contestation in 2018 when Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine with four others were arrested and charged with staging unlawful assembly after participating in a protest against the government’s move to tax social media.

SUPPORTERS of President Museveni’s son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Saturday filled up Masindi Municipality stadium to capacity to witness Lt. Gen (Rtd) Jim Beesigye Owoyesigire launch the MK Army/Movement Chapter. Owoyesigire represented Gen. Muhoozi.
By 8am, hundreds of people had already thronged the streets of Masindi Municipality, and the Stadium as they prepared for the historic launch that also involved various activities including finals of the Balaam Cup, as well as the ‘Kasiki’ party for the 49th birthday celebrations of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
He (Gen Kainerugaba) will clock 49 years of on Monday April 24.
Youths donning T-shirts and caps bearing Gen. Kainerugaba’s image and chanting mobilization slogans, cleaned the streets of Masindi Municipality.

In the Stadium, the finals of the Balaam Cup were ongoing with several dignitaries led by Lt Gen (Rtd) Owoyesigire, CID Director and a born of the area AIGP Tom Magambo Rwabudongo, Col Chris Magezi, Masindi District Chairman Cosmas Byaruhanga, Masindi District Woman MP Dr Florence Akiiki Asiimwe and MP Buruuli County Aled Akuguzibwe in attendance.
Others included Igara East MP Michael Mawanda who is also a member of the MK Movement leadership, Speaker Masindi District Council, Mayors of Divisions in Masindi Municipality, representatives from Bunyoro Kingdom among others.

‘MUHOOZI WILL TAKE OVER’, SAYS GEN. BEESIGYE
In his address to the congregation, Gen. Owoyesigire said him and a crop of other retired Generals including President Yoweri Museveni are aging, thus the need for able and trusted young leaders to take over leadership and further their contribution for a better Uganda.
“Gen Museveni is retired, I am retired and many of our colleagues. This is the reason we are backing Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the country’s next President. Uganda has come a long way and so it now requires a patriotic and able leader to prevent it from sliding back to where we found it,” Gen Owoyesigire said on Saturday.

He said Gen Kainerugaba is the deal and that whoever has doubts should interpret ‘the readings on the wall’.
For starters, Gen. Beesigye has vast knowledge and experience in Field Artillery and Air Defence. Before his most recent assignment to Somalia, he was chairman of the Steering Committee for the establishment of the National Defence College, Uganda. He also represented the UPDF in the 9th Ugandan Parliament (2011 to 2016). He was was the Force Commander AMISON until 2021 when he retired.
Addrssing MK supporters in Masindi Beesigye said, “Last week you saw me in Kigezi Subregion for the Rukundo Egumeho thanksgiving, and see, today I am here. Does that sound like a joke to you?” he asked.
The retired senior military officer would then gift a cow to each Mayor of the 8 Divisions in the Municipality that participated in the tournament, before calling on people to engage in income generating activities to fight poverty.
He would then proceed to launch the MK Movement Chapter in Bunyoro, tasking its first leaders to focus on improving the lives of the fellow youths, which he said is the cornerstone of Gen Kainerugaba’s aspiration to lead Uganda after President Museveni.
On his part, the MK Movement National Vice Chairman for Western Uganda, Dr. Balaam Barugahara, who was the organiser of the event, said arrangements were ongoing to organize similar events again in Masindi and Hoima which will be presided over by Gen Kainerugaba himself.
“I bring you greetings from Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, our next President. He so much wanted to have time with you but he could not make it due to other unavoidable commitments. We are however planning for two more mega events in Masindi and Hoima which the General says must attend. He loves you and loves Bunyoro so much,” Dr Barugahara said.
He noted that the ‘Kasiki’ was meant to create unity among the people of Masindi Municipality and also send an explicit message that Gen Kainerugaba is loved and appreciated across the country.
“First of all, we have done this to show love to our next President Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, but also to communicate that he is loved in all parts of the country,” Dr Barugahara expanded.
“You saw the numbers in West Nile, Bugisu, Sebei and most recently in Kigezi Subregion. These mammoth crowds only speak to the fact that the country is yearning for Gen Kainerugaba, the standby generator.”
“Now see all these people, in thousands, here in Masindi. They are here for unity as Banyoro but also to add their voice that they want a better Uganda under Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the next President,” he added.
Dr Barugahara would further reiterate that Gen Kainerugaba had sent him to remind the people of Masindi and Bunyoro to engage in the existing government programs like Emyooga and Parish Development Model, commercial agriculture and provision of services as one way of moving out of poverty.
On the launched MK Movement Bunyoro Chapter, Barugahara said that this is the beginning as more chapters, starting with Rwenzori and Karamoja, will be opened in other parts of the country and outside Uganda in the near future to push forward the cause of having Gen Kainerugaba as the next President.
Earlier this month, the supporters of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba under the MK Movement launched the first ever diaspora chapter and leadership struct in United Kingdom.

‘UGANDAN MEN NO LONGER FUNCTION WELL, BACKS BROKEN BSE OF POTHOLES IN CITY ROADS’, SAYS D/SPEAKER TAYEBWA, SUMMONS KAMPALA MINISTER

NEWS EDITOR MEDIA

THE Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has directed the Ministry of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Metropolitan Affairs to present a statement on the funding for construction and maintenance for the past three years and the status of roads in the city.
Tayebwa who chaired the House on Tuesday afternoon gave accounts of several Ugandans on social media complaining about the potholes and citing reports that women are producing prematurely because of potholes.
“Social media, especially, Twitter is a wash with an exhibition of potholes in Kampala. We have potholes of every design, and size, deep, shallow, wide, narrow, filled with water, and dry ones, they are all in Kampala,” he told MPs.
He said he had received reports from MPs that potholes are affecting the lives of Ugandans.
“Imagine you are from URA from sorting your tax issues and then passing in potholes and breaking your shock absorbers, and then ask yourself why? I ask myself how ambulances navigate these roads, especially with pregnant women,”
he said adding that: “Hon. Linos came and talked to me that some men are no longer functioning well because their backs are broken because of potholes. Mama Cecilia told me women are producing prematurely because of potholes.”

The deputy speaker directed the Minister for Kampala to present a statement to that effect for Parliament to see whether “the problem is from us, or we don’t appropriate enough money.”
On the weekend, a cross section of Ugandans took to Twitter to express their anger at the poor state of roads in Kampala.
Under the hashtag#KampalaPotholeExhibition, different social media users shared photos of roads with potholes across the city, with many of them castigating the government for turning a blind eye on the deteriorating road conditions in the different parts of the city.

ADAM Mulwana, populary known for Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye’s 2011 and 2016 presidential campaign hit song, ‘Toka kwa bara bara, Besigye ameyingiya, towa kwa baasi yakwo tunayenda kifunguwo’ and ‘Besigye Songa mbere’, poisoned!
His liver was affected, we are told, thanks to the medical doctors who have done everything possible to manage the situation.
This evening, a delegation of Senior Party leaders led by Party President Hon.  Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) paid a courtesy visit to this star boy Adam Mulwana at his home in  Luwafu Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala City.

This leading investigative news website is reliably informed that, Adam Mulwana an artist and a staunch FDC Party member is recuperating well and assured the Party President and the delegation that he can now stand on his feet.
Mr. Mulwana was diagnosed with poison which affected his liver but he is being managed.
The Party delegation also consisted of; Hon. William Nzoghu Mushabe the FDC Deputy President,  Hon. Kaps Hassan Fungaroo the FDC Party National mobilisation and Organization Secretary, Hon. Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda the Party Electoral Commission Chairman, Mr. Kyambadde Wilberforce the Deputy Treasurer General, Mr. Mulindwa Walid Lubega the National Youth League Chairman, Party Staffs; among others.

The Party President on behalf of the delegation delivered the Party’s contribution towards the support and welfare of Mr. Mulwana and promised him that he will never walk alone. Mulwana once contested for councilor but he didnt make it.

According to a story published by Daily Monitor in 2021, Adam Mulwana once talked about being trailed by strange people for a mere song he did.
“I do not tell people where I stay. In fact, I have switched houses four times ever since the campaigns began,”
Mulwana would later reveal to Daily Monitor.
He said, “I have moved my two children to another location to protect them. So I only stay with my wife. I think that way we are safer.”
On several occasions, Mulwana told media that he had mysterious men come to his home, questioning his wife about his whereabouts with no clear reason. “That is the reason I have kept moving only for them to locate me again,” he explains.
Mulwana has been moving within the musical circles for a while. He started out in 2010 as a ‘poster boy’ in the now defunct Eagles Production.
“My role was promotion. I was always assigned to erect banners and put up posters in various locations ahead of the band’s shows,” Mulwana revealed to Daily Monitor.
He remembered being deployed to every corner of the country to make sure the posters were up; a job he took very seriously until the time the band started breaking up.
The last born in a family of five was born in Buziranduulu, Luweero District. And just like his deceased parents, he was a strong supporter of the NRM government. “My father died for this government,” he repeatedly proclaims.
It is his two elder brothers, however, who died first as Kadogos in the NRA bush war. As he has been told by his maternal uncle who became his guardian after his father’s death, Mulwana’s two brothers joined the Bush War as young teenagers and were both killed in 1983.
His father, having shielded the NRA soldiers for too long was murdered around 1985 for supporting the rebels and the mother was consequently married off to a government soldier in Nakasongola. “She came back around 1988 but died in 2004,” Mulwana told Daily Monitor in an interview narrating how he fell in love with Dr. Besigye and FDC.

Here at News Editor Media, we wish Adam Mulwana a quick recovery

JUST IN! MUSEVENI LAUNCHES ANOTHER WAR IN LUWERO TRIANGLE, GIVES TOUGH DIRECTIVES TO ONC BOSS HADIJAH NAMYALO

STORY BY:
MOSES MUGALULA
LUWERO TRIANGLE

THE Head of State who doubles as Chairman of the ruling NRM Party Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni has officially launched another war in Luwero Triangle, this time not a guerilla but a war against poverty which he has vowed to fight and end successfully.
Museveni directed his blue eyed girl Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye commonly known as Chief Muzukkulu to rally all ONC army of cordinators and invade Luwero Triangle, go district by district, constituency by constituency, village per village identifying homesteads having vulnarable people, but with space, give them chicks, hybrid goats and sheep to help them end poverty.
For starters, Hajjat Namyalo is the PA Office of the National Chairman (ONC) NRM, also Special Presidential Advisor (SPA) and leader ‘Jjajja tova ku Main, sigala ku ballot’, a campaign speareheaded by youth seaking for Museveni’s return as President in 2026 and beyond.

Speaking to hundreds of people today in the three constituencies of Baamunanika, Katikamu North and Katikamu South where she delivered 12,000 chicken, over 600 bags feeds and 240 hybrid goats, a workholick Namyalo said President Museveni is fed up of too much bureaucracy in government programs put in place to fight and end poverty. Ms. Namyalo has directives from The Head of State to directly liase with village chairpersons, help her identify vulnarable families, receive chicks, goats, sheep and everything required to help them look after the project until it’s ready for them to start harvesting money.
“Today i am here to launch ONC Wealth creation campaign under office of the National Chairman NRM, supervised by the Chairman President Museveni, himself. He has given me directives to directly reach out to vulnarable poor, give them chicks, goats and sheep, give you freeds, give you veterinary officers and financial upkeep so that you don’t give excuses. Poverty must be history in Luwero triangle. We will together devise means to end poverty in Luwero. War against poverty is commanded by Gen. Museveni and it will be defeated.” Hajjat Namyalo told the people of Bamunaanika, Ziroobwe in Luweero district.
For about four decades, Luwero Triangle where NRA guerilla war was fought has suffered the ravages of poverty. President Museveni has introduced a number of programs to end poverty but have been hit so much by bureaucracy and corruption.
This time looks like he has finally found a lasting solution to the numerous ills that bedvils poverty in Luwero triangle by deploying his Personal assistant Namyalo and a team of ONC cordinators to directly reach out all villages and deliver these items to the beneficiary.
Museveni directed that this time, all items to fight poverty must be delivered straight to the beneficiary not through middlemen or brokers. This is what Hajjat Namyalo fulfilled today in the three constituencies making up Luwero districts.
“Because public has been complaining about how slow are government programs, that many don’t benefit from such programs due to high bureaucracy and a lot of money wasted in monitoring, the president has changed his approach. He has thence given directives to the manager ONC and she has complied.” Deputy PRO ONC Dr. Tibamwenda Brenda briefed News Editor Media.

In this campaign, ONC is boosting agriculture by mainly targeting the youth and in this endeavor, Hajjat Hadijah is donating 8000 chicks and 80 hybrid goats to the various families every constituency for the start.
In Katikamu North, each of 20 people identified by local chairpersons received 200 chicks, other 40 people received 80 hybrid goats and 750kgs of feeds that beginning with starters mash, growers mash, and finisher mash plus medication for the chicks, all delivered by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye.
Same to other two constituencies of Katikamu South and in Ziroobwe, Baamunaanika were vulnarable families received 8000 chicks, feeds and 160 hybrid goats to boost their incomes.
In every region, a veterinary officer was identified to monitor and treat for free of charge, the poultry and goats. Those who got chicks and goats were also given transport facilitation to help them take the chicks, goats and feeds to their respective homes.
Mr. Hakim Kyeswa who is attached to ONC Media desk told us, the next stop over is in Nakaseke district next week and Nakasongola district all in Luweero triangle. Then ONC wealth creation drive will spread to other Luweero triangle districts, and other parts of the country.
“This is a successful project loking at the speed, effeciency and transparency of the ONC boss Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo and her team. People have today received chicks, goats and feeds instantly. It’s time for action.” Said Hakim Kyeswa.
He said, basically, this project has come to backup parish development model and Emyoga. Only that this one has no bureaucracy.
Hakim Kyeswa told us that, “ONC doesnt only give out projects but also do feasibility study about this program and other government progams. We capture them and other presidential pledges. This program under our able leader Hajjat Namyalo will automatically be a success, poverty will be history.”
Addressing residents in Katikamu, Hajjat Namyalo clearly stated that this is a program from the office of the National Chairman NRM, not from the NRM secretariate.
