RUBAGA South Member of Parliament Hon. Aloysius Mukasa has asked Parliament of Uganda to cause for urgent punishment of all security officers in Miltary and Uganda Police Force (UPF) who on Thursday violently assaulted Chairman Fred Nyanzi and broke his foot while he was on Party assignment in Kyenjojo district!
Addressing media at Rubaga Hospital where National Unity Platform (NUP) National Mobilizer Nyanzi was rushed to save his life, area MP Mukasa said, the perpetrators must be taught a lesson for continuing to infringe on the rights of citizens.
Security forces brutaly arrested Chairman Nyanzi, reportedly breaking his foot in Kyenjojo when police and military invaded and disrupted a lawful party activity of Kunga Kunga, a Party National Mobilization Campaign.
In his statement on Thursday evening, NUP President Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, brother to Chairman Nyanzi said, “Today, the cowardly regime yet again launched a violent attack on our leaders in Western Uganda! The police and military attacked our leaders as they went to induct and launch our Mobilisation Teams for Tooro Sub-region in Kyenjojo District. Comrade Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu and one of our local coordinators Musinguzi Ibrahim were brutaly assaulted. They were both rushed to Kyenjojo hospital where they are receiving treatment. Our other comrades were violently dispersed. We condemn this criminality in the strongest terms”.
Condemning this attack on the top Party leader, MP Mukasa said security officers in Uganda have continued to demonstrate unprofessionalism of the highest order against the citizens calling upon Parliament to act and stop what he called impunity before Ugandans rise up to defend themselves against what he referred to as provocation by the security organs!
The NUP MP revealed to media how he has a heavy heart after visiting his colleague Fred Nyanzi, the 2021 NUP candidate for Kampala Central.
“I am speaking to you with a heavy heart after visting my brother Nyanzi who is currently admitted at Rubaga hospital. The security brutality and torture that has been subjecting civilians to inhumane treatment must stop and perpetrators be punished. It is saddening to learn that Chairman Nyanzi was harassed and brutally beaten up by the police and military for exercising his constitutional rights. It is even more distressing to know that he is now admitted with a fractured foot.” Said Rubaga South MP Aloysius Mukasa while addressing media.
He told journalists that he condemns the police and military’s actions in the strongest terms possible.
“No Ugandan should be subjected to such harsh treatment for simply exercising his or her rights as a civilian. I therefore call upon Parliament of Uganda to intervene and save our people.” Said MP Mukasa, adding, “So to masters of these heartless security officers, must take urgent action to address this issue and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions. The police and military forces are meant to protect and serve the citizens of this nation, not inflict harm upon them. We can not keep folding our hands while such atrocities continue to happen.”
Praying for his colleague, Hon. Mukasa said, “The people of Rubaga South stand with Chairman Nyanzi and his family during this difficult time, and we pray for his quick recovery and we embark on spreading the gospel of the mighty NUP Party countrywide.”
Insiders say, Chairman Nyanzi and MP Mukasa ara buddies.
On another note, Hon. Mukasa has wished the people of Rubaga South a happy Easter and urged them to remain foccussed on the struggle to liberate their country.
