SEVEN journalists working with Muganzilwazza based Delta TV Tukole, a television Station owned by successful businessman Guster Lule Ntakke have disowned an anonymous letter making rounds on social media insinuating that they have laid down working tools over non payment of their salaries for five months now.
For starters, Delta tv owner tycoon Ntake is well known for his Bread and bakery business although he has also invested heavily in real estate businesses with commercial arcades in Kampala.
These staff led by Betty Kalungi and Micheal Mutebi all from news desk have talked to this investigative news website and categorically denied knowledge about the circulating dossier saying, “Like any organization, we might be having issues but we know the right foras used to sort them out, at least not in media.”
The two journalists and others who include; Kefas Mayumba, Joseph Muyingo, Sylivia Nalumaga, Annet Nakaibale (who covers court) and Nicholas Ndugga allegedly wrote to General Manager, Delta TV informing him how they were laying down tools over non payment.
The anonymous letter which has no signature says. “We have been working as news reporters, anchors, editors as well as presenters for Delta TV media house for over 5 years. With due respect, we write to you after much deliberations and pain about an issue we are facing.”
In the letter, these staff say it is coming to a second half of the year now in a row that they are not receiving any consistent payments of our mandatory wages and renumeration yet they always perform their duties with due diligence, utmost sincerity and dedication hence commended for the same on numerous occasions.
“In this regard therefore, We bring to your notice that we were forced to lay down our working tools hence absconding from our regular duty schedules.” Reads the anonymous letter said to have been authored by the Seven Delta TV staff.
“WE DISTANCE OURSELVES FROM THAT ANONYMOUS LETTER’, WRITES DELTA TV STAFF
On behalf of the seven named staff, one of their ring leaders has written to the top managers distancing themselves from the circulating anonymous dossier.
His message reads, “Good morning Boss. We have seen a letter on Uganda Journalist Association (UJA) Whatsapp group and some people are pointing at us to be the authors of the said letter, which is not true. We distance ourselves from that letter.”
TRUTH ABOUT THE MATTER
This News Website has been reliably informed that, rumour made rounds about how the Seven Delta TV journalists wanted an increment.
On June 17, 2022, Delta TV General Manager Haji Abby Mukiibi Nkaaga met the seven journalists at Jevine Hotel in Ndeeba for an engagement.
Mr. Abby Mukiibi explained to these staff members how the economy is not doing well due to the impact from the two years Covid-19 lockdown urging them to be patient as management looks into the issue of salary increment.
“In fact Haji Abby Mukiibi and the Seven staff agreed to have another meeting after a week to forge way forward but before that, they had to engage the Company accountant on Tuesday (today). We were shocked to see an anonymous letter attached to the seven staff saying that they laid down working tools.” Said an authority from Delta TV who asked for anonymity.
Our efforts to talk to Haji Abby Mukiibi who recently lost his relative Omugave Ndugwa Katende, were futile.
Delta TV is one of the fastest growing TV stations with inspiring, family friendly programs and well edited news.
Never has it ever been named among media houses who starve their staff and make them go without salaries for long periods of time.
Who ever is circulating this anonymous dossier must be for a media war.
