BALAAM Barugahara, promoter of the two great events Johnnie Walker Sponsored live concert and all Africa stars – French legends football match has today evening annouced, both events have been postponed due to COVID – 19 world threat!
Balaam first posted this on his face book page: “I will be making a very painful decision in the coming days. It will lead to a big loss for me and my Great Partners but because of Humanity Iam left with limited choice . I have to choose between Money and humanity.”
Many thought, the Radio 4 owner was partying ways with the ruling NRM. He has however caught them offside.
In a statement released today evenning, promoter Balaam who was in Partnership with French Embassy said, this is done in the interest of the safety and protection of humanity.
“We regret to announce that the much awaited and advertised, all stars Africa – French legends football match Sponsored by MTN Uganda, Guinness, Next Media and Radio4 and Powered by French Embassy has been postponed.” Statement signed by Balaam reads.
On February 27th 2020, the activities of the French-Uganda Friendship week 2020 was launched at The French Ambassador’s residence in Uganda.
Among the activities lined up during the week are, Charity football Match between Uganda all stars & Africa /French legends captained by Samuel Eto’o on 22nd March Opening Event at Nambole stadium Courtesy of MTN UGANDA and all Primary School kids in Uniform were going to access Nambole Stadium for free the.
And on March 28th 2020, Europe’s Best Music Band Kassav alongside the Vegedream were also set to perform at Lugogo cricket Oval courtesy of Uganda Breweries Ltd.
Now all this has been cancelled.
Promoter Balaam has said, “The decision has been taken in the interest of Protecting humanity in the midst of the World wide Spread of the Corona virus -covid19 Pandemic. This decision has been taken as a precaution.”
“You all may be aware that some major sports activities, gatherings around the world have been put on hold for the same reasons.” Said Promoter Balaam.
He says quite much has been invested in the activities by the French Embassy, MTN Uganda, Ubl ,Next Media, Balaam Marketing and Radio4 but the preservation of life precedes all.
“In the same spirit ,We wish to inform the public that the Johnnie Walker Sponsored live concert featuring the World’s best French bands Kassav and Vegedream has also been postponed. Another date for the match and concert will be communicated in due course.” Says Balaam.
He thanked sponsors and Partners, the Staff of French Embassy and H.E the French Ambassador to Uganda saying, “Details of the next dates will follow in the press conference on monday 16th/03/2020 which will be held at the French Embassy.”
