RUBAGA North Member of Parliament Abubaker Kawalya has today evening visited Good Times Infant School in Kawaala, Rubaga Division where a domitory was gutted by fire last night, killing a P.6 pupil instantly!
The very touched legislator, condoled with the parents, school leadership and pupils for this loss of life and property worth millions.
“I am saddened by the death of our innocent pupil. Police should urgently investigate and come up with a report about the cause of this fire. I won’t relent until we get the truth.” Vowed area MP.

The former KCCA Speaker, on assessing the problem, lashed at the ministry of Internal Affairs for failure to make it a priority in devolving Fire Brigade service to division level in order to minimise such challenges and for immediate response.
In a statement released today by Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened today 22.02.2022 at about 12:15am.
It is alleged that pupils were in the dormitory (OLUPOT ” B” BLOCK) which is occupied by P.4, P.5, P.6, and P.7 when the fire broke out in their room.
The children escaped through the front and back doors. Unfortunately, Amanya Mathew, an 11-year-old primary six pupil was left inside as he was fast asleep. He was burnt beyond recognition.

The Police Fire Prevention and rescue services responded and put out the fire. The deceased’s remains were conveyed to city mortuary Mulago.
“Investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire have commenced. More details will be communicated as soon as they come in.” Said ASP Owoyesigire.
