SUMAYIYAH MUWONGE, opposition Democratic Party candidate for Kampala Woman MP has today evening regained her freedom after two nights in detention at Jinja Road Police Station.
Sumayiyah has been released on police bond after she was charged for Disobedience of lawful orders as per Vide SD Ref 105/04/01/2021. She is required to appear before the OC CID Jinja Road on Tuesday January 12th 2021, just two days to Thursday General elections.

On her release, Sumayiyah vowed not to cease fire saying, her competitors might be behind this, they wanted her kept in custody until election day.
“I suspect my competitors are behind my arrest. They must be worried of our sky rocketing support. We will not be discouraged, we joined this race for a genuine cause and winning is on our side next week. Tomorrow am hitting our campaign trail again.” Sumayiyah told this news website.
Kampala women MP race has other contestants who includes; NUP’s Shamim Malende, FDC’s Dr. Stella Nyanzi, NRM’s Faridah Nambi among others.
