WE’RE BADLY OFF: NAMAYINGO LEADERSHIP CRIES OUT TO BUSOGA KINGDOM

LED by their CAO,Loyce Joyce Nambozo, the leadership of Namayingo District has appealed to Busoga Kingdom to prioritize its programs in the Island District.

Interacting with the Team Leader Ekigangu kya Busoga also State Minister for Gender, Women and Children Affairs, Owek. Dr.Joyce Abaliwano Mulebeke recently at her office, the soon retiring civil servant noted that statistically, they are not doing well on issues of academic performance,gender based violence,teenage motherhood, HIV/Aids among others.

“Being an island District comes with both advantages and disadvantages however,the latter outweighs the former to the total disappointment of the targeted beneficiaries that we serve.” She said adding that as a District, they need more programs moreso from the Kingdom being a cultural institution that unites all the people of Busoga and the surrounding areas.

“As a District, we enjoy a good working relationship with the Kingdom and we are receptive to all programs aimed at uplifting our people in addition to mindset change. However, for Namayingo’s case,we ask for affirmative action from Busoga Kingdom as regards service delivery.” She pleaded before commending the management of Ekigangu for prioritizing to address the plight of children in the whole of Busoga without any discrimination.Nambozo, who also received a copy of the 1st Edition of Ekigangu Publication from the Team Leader,argued that the Ekigangu initiative was a well thought idea that will skill the beneficiaries in order to fit into the changing times of the job market.

Relatedly, the District Vice Chairman Samuel Barasa Mojjo flanked by the Secretary for Education-Wandera, asked the Kingdom administration to always consider their area as a special place for support to enable them serve their people better.

On her part, Dr.Abaliwano assured the leadership of Namayingo District that the Kyabazinga,Prime Minister together with the other organs at Bugembe have their area at heart qualifying her visit as being one of the reasons.

Dr.Abaliwano, who will spend several weeks in the District interacting with both parents/guardians,teachers and learners to address child abuse, poor academic performance, Gender Based Violence, also delivered a message from the Speaker of Parliament who is also the Managing Director Ekigangu, Rt. Hon.Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

“Be rest assured of our commitment as Busoga Kingdom to be with you as we strive to change the whole of Busoga for the better. We must work and succeed as a team for Busoga needs a combined effort from the different stakeholders.” She said before assuring her hosts that both the Kyabazinga and Speaker of Parliament are concerned about their area that posts poor results whenever UNEB releases exams yet Busoga wants to use education to change the state of affairs in their area.
